I don’t know if this counts as a great deal but Rogers has a new station to tune in to at no cost.

Starting today tune into Channel 208 on Rogers Cable for the free 24 Hour Chicken Channel.  If you like 24 hour fireplace and aquarium channels then you will LOVE the chicken channel.  If you are a vegetarian then maybe not so much.

This Swiss Chalet promoted channel will feature 12 roasters turning on a spit all day long.  I suspect someone is enjoying this right now.  Tune in and then share us your thoughts with us below.

What an awesome idea! We don’t get it though.

Sheer torture for those of us in a city without Swiss Chalet who really want one!!!

I saw commercials talking about this but I had no idea it was something they were seriously making…

Oddly enough, I have a swiss chalet almost literally behind my apartment building, just a couple streets back, and I’ve NEVER been to it. I may have to avoid that channel to avoid temptation.

This is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

I’m thinking they should of taken the money they spent on this nonsense and reduced their prices maybe then I could afford a chicken sandwich and fries. I love their food but $9.40 for a tiny roll with a few bits of dark meat (cause I can’t afford white)and a half a potato is just way too expensive to justify.

Chicken portions are way too small … mass produced baby birds keep the prices somewhat lower.
Can’t stand that thin salty pickle spiced dipping sauce … yech!

  6. ohmadeline

They air promo codes to use with facebook. Today’s is BOGO chicken dinner with purchase of drinks.

I think its the most stupid idea of spending money ever.….they must be making a bundle to waste money like this.…could be go to a charity to feed kids that dont have enough food on their plate.

This is the most stupid idea of wasting money I have ever seen.…..must be nice to waste money like that.…might be better going to a charity to feed kids three meals a day that dont get to eat at all in one day.

I find it offensive and very disappointing that a Canadian company would do that.

  9. Skippy

I think it is more interesting than the logs of fire. That said, anyone who posted above, should contact the company for feedback.

I’d tune in if the filmed the entire process, starting with gathering the chickens up for the slaughter!

Jokes aside, I don’t think this will take off like the Yule Log Fireplace or whatever that Xmas channel is called!

  11. FunkyD

No wonder Rogers is raising all their rates. So this is what we are paying for now?!?!?

  12. Shelley

Exactly FunkyD, my sentiments exactly. What a ridiculous idea. Sit in front of the t.v. and watch chicken spin. Please!!!!

  13. orchidgirl

Is this a joke? For real?…there in competition with the fireplace channel.

This is a great way to offer a coupon. If you go to swisschalet.com/channel and enter the promo code that you see on screen, you get a coupon for a free quarter chicken dinner. These codes are different every day and the offer apparently changes every day.

What a great idea based on a spin off from a commercial!

Typical Canadian move, agree with others, sink the money into larger portion sizes ! Example they have shrunk not only the chicken size in the family deal which use to serve 4, but the salad serving too, now it serves 2 1/2 as long as your guests aren’t hungry. Lest we not forget the fries which arrive on delivery squished all up in fist size and a small one at that, YUM !!!

  16. sarecycle

Why the “Typical Canadian move” comment? I hardly believe that the work of a marketing firm for Swiss Chalet is indicative of what the rest of the nation does are “Canadian” behaviors. But if I offended you then I apologize (as we Canadians are good at that I hear)

While I think it is a bit strange, it is obviously being used as marketing. I have heard about this from a dozen people this week, so kudos to their marketing firm as the word is spreading and the “Swiss Chalet” name is getting talk time. I personally have had consistent food and service at ours. Not stellar, but it is what it is and you know what you are getting.
