American Apparel Canada to Close All of Its Stores

American Apparel will be closing all of its retail stores, as well as its Los Angeles headquarters. American Apparel was founded in 1989 and known for their colourful cotton basics and “Made in America – Sweatshop Free” logo. It was acquired by Gildan Activewear on January 10 for $88 million US. At its peak in 2007, the bankrupt retailer was valued at $1 billion.
