Blockbuster: All new Xbox and GameCube games $4.99

Still bounc­ing around on last gen­er­a­tions sys­tems? Own a cur­rent sys­tem, but want to fire up an older disc inside it? Block­buster is clear­ing out all of their Xbox and Game­Cube games for $4.99. There’s no time­frame on when this will end. The big BB is get­ting out of the last-gen busi­ness, so this sale will prob­a­bly be on until they pull the remain­ing items from the shelves.

Just so we’re clear, this price applies to new items only. Used games are still car­ry­ing their sticker price, although for the most part the sticker price is $4.99 any­ways on used Xbox and Game­Cube prod­uct. PlaySta­tion 2 items are still being sup­ported by Sony with new prod­uct com­ing out reg­u­larly. As such I wouldn’t expect to see these join the clear­ance table any­time soon.

EDIT: Reader b has had some trou­ble find­ing a store that’s aware of this offer, so while the whole chain is sup­posed to be offer­ing this, treat it as YMMV.

    Where did you get this info from?

    I stopped by 3 dif­fer­ent block­busters last night (in Ontario) and none had the sale on or even knew about it.

    My day job is actu­ally with BB, so the info is def­i­nitely 100%. Tell them to price check any new Xbox or Game­Cube games — they’ll come up in the sys­tem as $4.99. That being said, I’ll make sure to edit the orig­i­nal post with a YMMV in case they’ve started local­iz­ing the deal.

    Hmm, ok.. the ones I stopped by only had about 2 or 3 game­cube games each, any­way, and I don’t think any of them were new.
    I didn’t even know Block­buster car­ried ‘new’ video games for older systems

    YMMV means “your mileage may vary.” Essen­tially it just means that some stores might do it, some might not.

    I was at a store in Cam­bridge today and they had a small selec­tion of Game­Cube and XBOX games — all priced at $4.99. Noth­ing I wanted but I ver­i­fied it’s happening.
