Current week’s PharmaPlus flyer shows 5% off Cdn 10-packs of stamps, limit 6. Not as good as the 10% offer late last year but I’ll go for it!

January 16, the new postage rates bump up.

…maybe businesses and people in general should learn how to send mail electronically, for free, and then when canada post has to lay off people, they may realise that raising prices is not the best business move. If I raise my prices on products I sell, my profit margin goes down not up, but I often have to do that because I pay more for my primary..what’s their excuse.

I just hate having to get the few penny stamps to make up the difference on stamps I bought last year. Like the ones to the US which are not permanent. Those are the ones that should be!!
Funny, though … I could not find this announcement on the Canada Post website. Do they just plan to post the rates once they have come into effect, not giving us the heads-up??
I read about it on a notice at a Staples store last Saturday!
But, thanks for providing the “official word” here.

Every June, the postage stamp hike for the following year is announced. I realized the trend in 2004. Late spring/start of summer-news of price hike. Then come Christmas card mailing season, the hike is more noticeable.

Not a fan of the P designation for domestic mail postage but it makes less hassle to use up the stamps. 57 cents, huh.

Ugh — they raised it just last year — I remember stocking up last Christmas. I don’t think there’s much wrong with the price — but it annoys me that it is raised every year. At my work we send hundreds of mailings and it adds up big time whenever prices go up.

Rexall has the “Permanent” stamp packs on 10% until 12/11 — Friday.….
I think just the stamp pack for Canadian postage, and 10% isn’t much, but better than full price at the post office!

Anyone know if anyupcoming sales of 10% off stamps? Like Pharmaplus? Also, does zeller give 10% off stamps after showing SPC card?

not only is the price going up now.…but think how much “more” it will be in Ontario when we HAVE to pay HST. Yes instead of the one tax it will be combined.…and we will be paying more. Couple rolls of stamps for Christmas sounds like a great idea!! I don’t care if the envelope has to go a mile — the price of the stamp is the same.

I agree that the price is a good deal. I do stock up on the permanent stamps, especially the Christmas ones and pack them away with the half price cards I buy Boxing Day, ready for next year!

I agree that $0.57 is still a great deal for the service. In comparison with price hikes on everything else, this is negligible. But I will plan on stocking up on some permanent stamps before than anyways!

Quebe, maybe I can help answer those questions.…
I drive truck(big truck) and we pickup and deliver Canada Post from terminal to terminal.
Sooo, from Newfoundland to Toronto would be 3 terminal points/pickups, from Toronto to Vancounver BC is 1 terminal point/drop. Unless there are some expedited letters from Newfoundland, then that would be 1 plane trip. And dont forget the Canada Post trucks that take your mail out locally.
This is just my experience as my job kinda fits your statement.
And you are right 0.57 is still pretty cheap when you figure just the amount of transportation it takes to deliver the mail.
JUST MY 3 CENTS WORTH!!!(for the 3 cent increase)
But I will still stock up on some permanent stamps anyways

Why stock up, won’t you just have to buy 1 cent stamps to make up the difference?
the ones that are sticky, and have no postage on them, (ie 54 cents),
are the ones to buy now, (christmas ones, for instance„,)
you don’t have to add any other stamps to those.

I agree with quebe, too! For a letter, it’s still a small price to pay.
Packages are a whole ‘nuther story — way too expensive through Canada Post!

Well said quebe…I agree…I think that it’s pretty amazing that I can send a letter from one coast to the other for 57 cents.…and that it takes a such a short period of time for it to get there.
