This is my experience. Some of the staff at Sephora are unpleasant. When you ask for samples, they give you a cool reception. I came in to get the Mineral powder make-up sample a couple of weeks ago at Yorkdale. The saleswoman could not muster a greeting or a smile. They make you feel like a panhandler asking them for money. If you ask for a perfume sample, quite often you get the same coldness. Bottom line for me-the samples are not worth that kind of treatment. Upper management, are you listening? I will rather spend my money at Murale, where they are ALL super nice and professional. I’m just saying…

They really shouldn’t be snooty to you. A lot of people that go in for these freebies also buy products, these coupons bring people into the stores.

I also felt uncomfortable picking up my birthday gifts… :(

I’d suggest emailing Sephora directly. Maybe you could try through their website.
I went to Sephora for the second time last Saturday and picked up the NARS cream. The staff there were all very nice and informative.
The one I went to was in Newmarket. So next time maybe try there.

It depends on the person. I bought something and they were really nice. They encouraged me to be a member. I saw really helpful assistance to others who needed help choosing their make-up as well.

I went in to pick up samples this weekend in Calgary and they didn’t have any of the ones from the recent emails including this one and the mineral foundation. Why even bother going into the store if they don’t even have the samples? I also got a cool response with no explanation or appology.

They probably get irritated with people coming in and just asking for free stuff, you catch my drift? I’ve ordered my free gift with an online order, will probably do that this year too.

Even if they get annoyed, it’s not like it personally costs them any money to give away samples, especially when it’s a company promotion.

I’ve never really gotten the hype about sephora, it seems very expensive for what you get, and I’m happy with the few products I have from MAC and LUSH for cosmetics.

wow ladies where do you find such awfull staff? both sephora on bloor AND eaton center as are the most pleasant ever — knowledgable AND courteous, give the most generous samples :)
