Back in April we posted about the updates that the Home Depot Canada had made for the months of April and May for their free workshops. In case you missed that post, we’re letting you know that while the April free workshops are done, May has some great free tutorials in store that will help get your outdoor living space ready for summer!
You will have to RSVP to the free workshops online at the Home Depot so that you can secure your spot, as these events can fill up pretty quick. The events that you can check out for this month at the Home Depot are:

Another food truck is rolling up onto the Toronto foodie scene this Friday, May 8th, and to christen their new spot – which will be located just outside the Chelsea Hotel – the Chelsea Food Truck will be giving out free tacos and samples of Mill Street beer.
The event will begin at 11am and run until 2pm, and there will also be free tunes serenading you as you pick your free food and drink as the Chelsea Food Truck has hired Turbo Street Funk to perform for you on what is forecasted to be a beautiful, sunny day.

Davids Tea Canada knows the important role that nurses serve in our community, which is why they have decided to give away free tea to all nurses and nursing students in celebration of Nurses Appreciation Week. This event will be taking place on May 12th for the entire day and all that Davids Tea requires you to do to qualify for your free tea is provide some form of identification that proves that you are a nurse or nursing student.

Head into your local McDonald’s Canada today to hep support the national McHappy Day fundraiser. For the entire day, McDonald’s Canada will be donating $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot McCafe beverages to local charities across the country; charities like Ronald McDonald house.
If you don’t wish to buy any of these food items, you can always opt to buy your co-worker or a friend their morning coffee and still receive the benefit of knowing that your money is going towards a good cause.

Lucky inhabitants of Toronto, Ontario will be able to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style today, as at Chippy’s Fish and Chips they are giving away free fish tacos for today only.
After today, Chippy’s Fish and Chips will be adding these now rather well-known fish tacos to their official menu, and will be charging for them at full price. Chippy’s Fish and Chips is located at 893 Queen Street West and will be open until 9pm this evening.

Starting this Thursday, May 7th is the much anticipated start date of the Dollar Drink Days promotion at McDonald’s Canada. If you haven’t had the pleasure of taking advantage of this promotional event in the past, then you will be excited to hear that during Dollar Drink Days at McDonald’s you can buy any size soft drink for, you guessed it, one dollar.
If soft drinks aren’t your go-to summertime beverage for cooling off on a hot day, then you can also get either a small or medium size iced coffee. You will have the choice between getting a regular iced coffee, or you can get a little crazy and add in a shot of caramel, vanilla, or sugar-free vanilla to give yourself a nice little treat.
This promotion generally runs for at least a couple of weeks, though there has been no end date provided for the public yet.

The second week of NCIX Canada’s 19th Anniversary Sweepstakes contest has opened for this week, but you will only have until May 6th to enter for your chance to win over $10,000 in prizes from NCIX. Even if you entered in the first week of NCIX’s sweepstakes contest, you can still enter this week for a second chance at winning one of these amazing prizes.
To enter the contest you will first have to subscribe to the NCIX newsletter and then head on over to their Facebook page and ‘like’ the page. You can get additional entries into the contest by tweeting about the contest on Twitter, getting your friends to enter, or by liking the other pages affiliated with NCIX Canada (e.g. NCIX PC Facebook page).
For the next few weeks, Ikea Canada will be hosting a bedroom event where you can save 15% off on all bed frames, which will include cribs, bunk beds, day beds and even headboards. The only products that will be excluded from this sale will be sofa beds and futons, but apart from that almost all of the bed frame department will be on sale until May 25th.
The king, queen and full size bed frames at Ikea have a great range in price, with the most inexpensive models starting at $99 and the higher end frames selling for upwards of $899. While the upper end models are quite exquisite to look at, you can get an equally nice looking frame for a quarter of the price and still receive a fairly good quality bed frame. The Leirvik bed frame is one of my favourite styles that Ikea offers and, having owned this model before, is also designed to last. The queen size frame is normally sold for $199, but in the bedroom event it can be purchased for just $168.50.
Ikea is offering the bedroom event sale online and in-store, though the selection of the bed frames available will vary by location – and the prices may differ from the online prices. You should also note that bed bases and mattresses are sold separately from the bed frames, so remember to order those as well if you don’t already have some at home.
Ikea bases their shipping rates on the size, weight and retail value of your order, so it will be different for each order.

Each month, select Lego Stores across Canada offer a free workshop event where you not only get to learn how to make a different Lego model using simple brick pieces, but you also get to take home the model free of charge. In this month’s Monthly Mini Model Build Workshop your child, between the ages of 6-14, will get to build their very own koala.
The mini model event will be taking place at your local Lego Store tomorrow at 5pm and will be running until quantities sell out – which I imagine will be rather early on, so I’d suggest getting there on time if not earlier. The following stores have confirmed that they will be taking part in this freebie event, but if you don’t see your local Lego Store you can call to confirm whether or not they will be offering the free mini model build this month.

Tomorrow is the much anticipated Free Comic Book Day in Canada, an event that is hosted annually on the first Saturday of May. We posted about this event earlier in April but thought it would be fair to give those of you who missed out on it a reminder that you can pick up a free comic book at any participating comic book shop around Canada.
The Free Comic Book Day website has a store locator so that you can punch in your postal code to find the nearest participating comic book shop to you. And if you are on their site, you should also check out the list of comic books that are being included in this year’s freebie event.

The Home Depot Canada is running a special offer over the next two weeks that will surely catch your attention, should you currently be on the hunt for a new BBQ. The other day we posted about the returning Frappuccino Happy Hour promotion at Starbucks Canada where you can get the cool blended beverage for half-off the regular price. This offer will be available for everyone, with no Starbucks card needed to receive the promotional discount.
Starbucks will however be providing Starbucks card members with an additional hour of ‘happy hour’ fun. For Starbucks card holders, the happy hour event will go from 3-6pm everyday until May 10th, while everyone else will only have until 5pm each day during the promotion to receive the 50% off.
