Confessions of a Disneyland Jack Sparrow

Have you ever fantasized or wondered what it would feel like to work at Disneyland as a Disney character? Here’s a very interesting story from a person who actually got this opportunity! An ex-Jack Sparrow spills on life at the Magic Kingdom. Even if you’re not interested in Disneyland, this story is a very enjoyable read.

Thirty-seven actors showed up that day, four of us in costume. After 15 minutes they pulled me into another room where two other guys were sitting. They told us we were going to be Disneyland’s first Jack Sparrows. I played Jack like he was real, and if a woman flirted, I would flirt back. Women loved it.…

Well, I have fantasized about me and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow…lol!

That picture is totally going to get someone fired. Disney doesn’t like “mixing” it’s different worlds…it ruins it’s “themeing”.

    LMFAO I LOVE IT!
Haha my 8 year old saw the pic and goes ”woah Jack Sparrow is dating Ariel?

    Hahhaahh.

I heart Jack Sparrow, I have a thing for dirty pirates.

The story kind of made me sad he got fired, Boo for disney, he sounded like he did an amazing job!

Thanks for this story Boo! I actually applied to work at Disney when I lived in the states and again considered trying to get into their living/working in Disney program. A friend of mine from Myspace works for them, and they really are this bad. The people (characters/ride/booth workers) that you work with are usually awesome he said, but its those in management you need to look out for. They are anal about the rules and sneezing while in a costume can get you in trouble. One guy was so hot he puked in his costume after repeatedly asking for a break and being denied one because it wasn’t scheduled. He had to pay to have it cleaned and they put him on park cleaning duty for awhile. It’s usually not too bad unless you’re playing a character, because you have to maintain a certain image. These are just some of the rules I’ve seen.. http://www.disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/wdwcareers/hourly/additionalinfo.html
If you can follow hardcore rules, the perks definitely make the job worth while.

Well, it’s not AS bad as he says. Sure, like I said. A picture like that getting out in public will get you fired.

But I used to work at Disney in Florida, and we’d take pictures with our friends in costume from other “lands” all the time…sometimes they’d even be pinned up at work, backstage — no one cared.

In fact, you CAN talk to other characters back stage — in the lunch room, I once saw SnowWhite and Peter Pan talking to each other while eating their lunches — Snow White was swearing like a trucker about some male tourist who was a pervert.

And the non-characters did not treat the characters like royalty. We all got along equally, and all treated each other equally.

In any case, this guy blatantly broke the rules, so he deserved to be fired. You don’t have to like the rules, but you have to follow them — if you don’t like them, either quit, or get fired.

Hello, I like your post about that. Personally I don’t know if it’s realy related with your topic, but I think you will like the idea of http://www.fxsmsalert.com. When you are experienced Forex trader you know what Forex economic events are and what huge impact it can make at specific time. So basically this project helps you not to loose track of these events by sending you SMS messages into your phone and informs you about upcoming events. Also when actual outcome (value) is known, you will receive second SMS with this info INSTANTLY. So this Forex trader gets better trading results overal than trader who does not use this tool. These are 2 cents from me. Bye
