Earlier today, Google Canada made an official announcement on their blog that they would be launching a new free service for storing all of your media related memories, the service is called Google Photos. Google Photos is a standalone app that can take care of decluttering your phone and computer by redirecting all of your photos and videos to be stored on a safe, and unlimited storage system. The service is available for all platforms, including Android, iOS and online, and is entirely free – no matter how many pictures or videos you upload on it or how frequently you use it.
Google Photos is not only a free service that will keep high-quality backups of your pictures and videos (up to 16MP for pictures and 1080HD resolution for videos), but it is also a very intelligent piece of technology that can help organize your memories. Google Photos can search for people, places, or even specific days that pictures were taken, without using any tags. Simply plug-in what you’d like to see, your best friend Jake, or your trip to NYC, and Google Photos will auto group the pictures into a neat file for your viewing only.
There are a number of other really neat features that Google Photos will provide for you, other than storage, all of which you can read about here on the official Google blog.
