Just an aside:  What do you think of La Senza’s advertising?  Call me crazy, but I believe the ladies are showing a lot more than they used to.  It is really shocking when you are walking through the mall and there is a giant picture of some (very) young woman’s assets showing.  To be honest, it doesn’t make me want to buy their products!  I find myself actually avoiding the store and distracting my daughter so she won’t look at an oversized body part.  I have nothing against lingerie, but I don’t need to see half-naked women while I’m buying it.

I totally agree!! They are getting more scandelous by the min! i love their stuff don’t get me wrong…but a little more tasteful and less skin in the window works better for me!

I agree too. It’s funny how things change — a few generations ago, the poster shown above would have been considered pornography!

I just don’t like their clothes. The bras are poor quality and couldn’t support a AA cup in a swimming pool. I’ve also tried on a few of their bustier-type things and they contain so much (non-removable) padding that there is no room for actual breasts. Add in the skin-crawly hyper-sexualized ads/posters in store and I’ve completely stopped even glancing around the store. I suspect, being older than 16, that I am not their target group.

Lingerie tends to show off the “assets.” It’s pretty unavoidable in this century. Perhaps you’d rather they advertised it under a nice pair of ankle-length bloomers and a hoop skirt?
Also, in the image shown above the model is a lot more covered up than she would be is most swim suits… guess you don’t take your daughter to the beach much either?

How can they advertise lingerie without showing women in lingerie?

  6. Marie

I agree…especially when I’m walking thru the mall with my teenage son…very uncomfortable. If they’re going to have such posters, at least keep them in the interior of the store where just the customers can see them Let’s face it…women (and men) know La Senza products …we really don’t need huge posters in our faces.…

I agree as well. But the only way to make a change is to let the companies know you disapprove! Companies will keep on pushing the envelope on these issues further and further until the public “pushes” back. If enough people complain, changes can be made. Too many of us are the “silent majority” and just let these things slide. Speak up to those who make the advertising decisions!

Meh, at least they’re advertising lingerie and it’s a relevant picture– unlike every ad for booze, perfume, etc. where you have to sit back and wonder what the last 30 second of softcore pornography was selling you.

Alright everyone.… Through the centuries, yes centuries, cultures change (except the egyptians lol) and I know you old timers may miss the “good old days” where this type of advertising may seem trashy or not classy but lets face it, we didnt just wake up one day and start dressing
like this… This style started slowly, the 70’s brought on shorter skirts, and shorts ( dont tell me you didnt wear the latest fashions or trends) and your parents probably didnt approve, well now its your turn to not approve of the fashions your children will want to wear but thats life. what was cool in your time has influenced the way we dress and live today. Back in the day cigarettes were advertised as cool, now its cool to quit smoking… things change fast, just try to make the best of it.

Hmm, this could be a heated discussion coming up on here.
    I agree, not appropriate.

I do agree that the advertisement pics are very seductive but all in all it is good to see how some of the laungerie look on a human then a hanger

It all comes down to target demography for any business. They sell lingerie and the best way to display their goods are by showing them off in the best light possible. A slim and well shaped younger woman is what most of the clients of la senza wish to look like. I do not agree with so much skin and don’t believe that all regular women do not purchase or would purchase la senza but the bottom line is each business knows where they profit the most and push for the clients that will make them the best amount of revenue from focussing on selling on them. La senza’s main clients are 12 to 24 years old and have a mid budget. Those clients want to look like popstars and want to feel and look sexy. Not my exact idea of sexy but business is business and if that is not for you well…they do not care. La perla is high end and sophisticated targeting wealthy established woman with high end taste and no budget. Walmart has value price for all and accessible, etc… This is just my business point of vue based on experience in the field not my personal one :)

    HAHAH — funny conversation.

It bothers me more when I see some ‘Guess’ store posters where the women are half naked — than lingerie posters. Or the sucking on the lollipop poster — just unnecessary.

As for the teenage boy shopping with you — I don’t think they care all that much. Just look the other way and let em drool! haha
