Unfortunately, Canadian retailer Laura’s Shoppe Inc. is planning to close 20 stores within a few weeks and seek rent reductions on 26 others as it restructures in an effort to ensure its survival. The stores will close by September 13, 2015.
The chain employs 2,383 people working for Laura, Laura Petites, Laura Plus and Melanie Lyne. It’s not yet clear which of the chain’s 162 locations are affected or how many of Laura’s employees will lose their jobs. The Montreal based company, founded in 1930, had almost $124 million in liabilities and only $72.5 million of assets as of July 4, according to the report.
Perhaps if they gave refunds and not exchange only on their mechandise people would shop there. They have nice stuff and good sales frequently. I never shop in an ‘exchange only’ store any more.
Thank you for that info, I had never ordered from them before but was considering it but did not realize they do exchange only, definitely wont be ordering from there. We have a high priced store in town that does that and it is the reason I wont shop there. Too bad really because Laura does have some awesome clothing.
