MAC foundations are a personal favourite of mine. I like something light weight and doesn’t cake and doesn’t irritate my skin, so when I found MAC fifteen years ago, I stuck with it.
Yes it’s expensive, between $30-$45 depending on the foundation/cover up you get, however if you go into the store to get it, the artists there will show you how to put it on properly (like moisturizer first) and what brush to use and it will last for far longer then all the Shoppers Drug Mart stuff you can buy.
Plus did I mention they’re animal and environment friendly?

yes, last summer they had 25% friends and family sale (around June 2009). It was online only. Wish they would do that again but i think it was because we were in a recession and maybe stuff wasn’t selling…
What Ellie said! There’s several different weights of foundation, too — I’ve tried both a matte finish (“studio sculpt”) and a lighter one (“select”) and there’s something more sheer too, though I haven’t tried it. I like the Select finish, which is also SPF15.
More things to know as a frugalist: I wear foundation & concealer every day, and their products last me a long time — about 6mos for a bottle of foundation, and a year for a pot of concealer. Also, their brushes are made from natural fibres and likewise last forever.
Lastly, if you save your empty MAC containers and bring them back, you get a free lipstick for every 6 returned.
