McDonald’s Canada to Create 100,000 New Jobs and Make Major Renovations

News-Story-Slider-Image-CYT

Some of you may have noticed a few changes the last time you visited your local McDonald’s Canada restaurant: a friendly greeter or maybe a new self-ordering kiosk? These changes have been part of McDonald’s effort to bring a new level of customer service to the fast food industry while also introducing new customizable menu items to its already long list of offerings.

As these changes roll out across the country beginning in the Greater Toronto Area, McDonald’s will be hiring approximately 100,000 new employees in 1,000 different restaurants. McDonald’s hopes that these new changes will cater to customers’ desires to have a more personal and unique experience at each restaurant; similar to what Chipotle and Five Guys are doing.

The “Create Your Taste” program is a new option at numerous McDonald’s restaurants where customers can build their own premium burger. They can chose from almost 30 different options including five types of cheese, 12 toppings, two buns or lettuce wrap, as well as nine sauces!

McDonald’s will be introducing these new renovations, self-ordering kiosks, menu items and jobs to approximately 1,000 locations across the country by the end of 2017.

Oh, unemployment has been eliminated, we can all buy a house and car on, if you can get the Job at McDonalds. I love how McDonalds makes it sound as if they are preventing Hunger in Canada with their exaggerated numbers; and their 10 hrs a week Jobs.

This will definitely hold up the line… people already take centuries just to pay by interac

Ok after my recent experience, I am not at all impressed, these so called kiosks are brutal, after scrolling through to make my order, 5 minutes late I get the empty cup and my bag with my burger and fries in it, so off to wait for my drink, (Why ask me what I want to drink if I have to serve myself??) Next I did not select ketchup, so I did not get any 🙁 I did not realize I had to select the amount of ketchup I wanted.. Oh Boy this was not good, there is less people working. so not sure where the 100,000 are coming from

I agree @Dave. My daughter likes the wrap happy meal…….with grilled chicken, no cheese and Thai sauce instead of ranch. It is almost impossible to order that at the kiosk…I’ve tried twice. Very slow and not very user friendly. I also usually prefer to pay cash for the 4.49 happy meal I order and the kiosks are no help there. This is new and obviously needs some improvement. I have tried the kiosks three times and after 10 mins each time I gave up and joined the line of others who failed to complete their orders at the kiosks. I really can’t stand how you have to enter EVERY single item you want…why can’t I just press a “Big Mac meal” button??????

@Dave They ask what drink in case you want juice or water. Not everyone eats their meal with ketchup so they don’t want to waste

I’ve seen this in action already, it is a hot mess mistake. slooowwws everything down, people don’t know where to stand. you basically wait in 2 different lines and the person handing out the food scurries around up front. also don’t believe jobs will be created it is in response to the increase in minimum wage ie to cut down on jobs.

Gee, 100,000 dead-end, wage-slave, no benefit part-time McJobs, just what the country needs. People need to be buying less of this crap anyway. Tax the hell oif junk/fast food and use those taxes to subsidize fresh food. When a bell pepper costs twice as much as a McCrap’s hamburger things are seriously out of whack. Not to mention all the arable land and food being wasted on animals for people to consume. Eat real food. Mostly plants. Not too much.

Right on Jon. I think everybody should watch Food Inc. or In Defense of Food. The way Monsanto wants to have put a patent of food itself is terrible. This company is the worst, a real Devil.

I hate the new formatwith electronic kiosks! The other day, there must have been 40 people waiting for their order to be ready. Don’t know why people constantly keep trying to fix something that isn’t broke.

  8. Dylan says:

Plus also, it creates a queue. You have to wait for your order to be up in the queue before it is processed. Before this system, if you order a coffee, there usually is minimum wait once you paid, since as long as someone has idle hands, the coffee is made and provided. Now you have to wait for your order to be processed in the queue. So if there are complex orders requiring prep ahead of yours, you could be waiting a very long time. Precisely the problem with drive thrus, and most people know if there is a long line there and your order is “simple”, you get out of the car and go in.

    Result will be lost business.
