Nike Canada has revealed the new HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers which are Nike’s latest breakthrough in adaptive lacing. You may remember a promotional video of Michael J. Fox trying on the shoes back in October, but now Nike announced mass production so even you will be given the chance to wear them soon.
The basic idea behind these power lacing shoes is that they will automatically tighten when you put them on. It will save you the time of bending down and as Nike promotes it: the HyperAdapt 1.0 will reduce distractions for athletes so that they can concentrate and focus on the tasks at hand.
“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” explains Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator, NIKE, Inc., and the project’s technical lead. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available only to members of Nike+ beginning at the end of 2016 in three colours.
