I was very surprised indeed when I saw this message on their web site. I love shopping at no frills for their specials – this will make my trip worth while.

  2. cindy says:

    This is great! 😀
I’ve never price matched before though… but this might make me start! How exactly do you go about doing it? Do you just show proof of the other price to the cashiers or do you have to go to someone higher up?

  3. V says:

Just tell cashier you want to price match, before they scan item.
show flyer or receipt. done. cashiers should be able to do it, don’t need manager.
YES. Now i don’t have to go to walmart or zellers.

  4. ed_c says:

Yes, I will shope there more from now on! Great place to spend my PC ponits at!

  5. Zee's Mom says:

I think they’re doing this to recoup the customers/sales they lost due to the recent problems with food tampering in their stores. (ie: needles in sausages, stuff injected in fruits, etc) I love nofrills as I find it has a great selection and is affordable, and I have continued to shop there – but in recent months it has been targeted and until that is resolved I’m being extra careful about my purchases there.

It’s great they are doing this, but please sc-ers… take that extra moment to check out your purchase before tossing it in your cart.

  6. Tina says:

I love No Frills but the cashiers where I shop are not customer friendly. They hate coupons and now ask them to price match? They will be showing me the teeth but I can handle it because I love to save $$$$

  7. Chi of Steel says:

Sounds good in theory, but line-ups of people with full shopping carts are long enough.

  8. JUNE says:

hey guys, no frills currently only accepts price match for Sobeys, Walmart, Food Basics. I am not sure which other stores that is included but these are examples. They aren’t going to price match with Shoppers, etc. Also they don’t price match with stores under the same company, such as Loblaws, Superstores, etc. ALSO, no price match with big chinese supermarkets such as T&T etc.

  9. Brock says:

What about Price choppers? Metro? Zellers? Giant Tiger?

  10. Family Complete says:

“geographical trade area” its okay for the big city stores with a lots of big competitors but in the county like Essex,ON they will only compare to the Foodland in town.

  11. Jo Seff says:

    I miss No Frills

  12. Jeff says:

Price matching is pretty much a gimick. There is no incentive to prove your case, because it is easier to just go to other store and get the item. If they did what HD and Lowes do and offer to not only match it but take an additional percentage off than it would be worth doing.

  13. Steph W says:

Define geographical trade area for me…i want to know how many KM within the store is their area defined.

    N. Falls (ON) – Our grocery stores are spread out, so it may be hard.

Fort Erie (ON) – Sobey’s is close, Walmart right beside it. The F.E. location is such a better store, and this is just another plus for it.

  14. Steph W says:

@ Jeff – saves gas for one. If you can get your shopping done in one or two stores, rather than 3 or 4. Which brings me to point #2 – saves you time. I’ve never price matched, but I might now.

  15. ivanna-save-a-lot says:

i have always loved to shop at no frills and recently they started a new special where i am. if you dont get asked if you are interested in purchasing there special of the week, you get it free!! not bad considering this weeks special was irish spring body wash. it’s absolulty my favorite body wash and i got 3 free!!! wooohhoooo!!!! there sale price was $2.99 this week.

  16. CarlyinCanada says:

I love NF & glad to have the PM option…I agree it will save time & gas as less stops to make!

  17. Terri says:

Good luck to everyone doing this. Unless they have changed it dramatically from the last time I tried to price match you won’t have much luck unless the item is EXACTLY the same AND the other store is next door! I wanted to price match with a Price Chopper that was 3K away and they said it was too far!

  18. Red says:

Companies profits are impacted by pricematching as they can’t maintain their margin, this is clearly an attempt to regain customers lost to WM getting the grocery section and the change from Price Chopper to Fresh Co.

Can’t say I’ll stop price matching at WM because the No Frills in town is small, cramped and the lines for the cashiers always go down the asile.

If only RCSS would price match.

  19. melissa says:

for sure i will shop there more now i love pcpoints

  20. iloveagreatdeal says:

At the no frills that I work at, we do have to call a manager to verify the price match for the time being, this I am sure will change as time goes on, and it is possible that not all no frills need managers to ok it, since we all have different owners I find a lot of the rules vary too.
They will only be matching “grocery stores” not stores like SDM, Zellers, or Giant tiger… In my area we match Sobeys, Walmart, and Foodland, which was told to us by the head office, the owner doesn’t get to choose who to price match.

@Jeff; If i wanted to get a couple sale/flyer items from 4 stores how would it be easier to drive to 4 different stores? I can just bring in the 4 flyers to ONE store. Yes it may take a couple extra minutes at that one checkout BUT I only have to park my car once, put my kids into the buggy once, shop once, checkout once, and load up my car with kids and groceries once. Aside from saving gas, it saves alot of time too. Im a big fan of price matching:) Yay No Frills!

  22. Kay says:

now if only they start having rain checks! How many times I’ve gone to buy frozen fruits only to find it all gone!

  23. Angie says:

This only applies to their front page. Which is always the best price, unless that has changed in the last week. I read the fine print.

  24. dawn says:

The thing is they are still loblows and if they can find a way to get around saving you money they will also they do give out rain checks and depending on stock good luck getting what you wont the store in melville sk never has the stuff you wont . good luck to you that can get the price match.

RCSS DOES PRICE MATCH!!!! AT Christmas I got them to pricematch a one hour midnight madness special from Zellers just had to be there in the hour with flyer. Yes of course it has to be the same product its a price match after all that means same price for same product. I am guessing No Frills will do it the same as Real Canadian superstore which does let the manager have final say and they have to be called to the till to do(cashiers at rcss cant do it themselves but the ones in the other department seem to be able to my pricematch at Christmas was in the electronics dept. a grocery one at the reg till they called a supervisor)

  27. V says:

RCSS depends on where you live.
In ontario it’s very limited, usually front page or special days.
sucks, not full blown PM, but i find Walmart getting stricter or cashiers being ignorant.

  28. Rachel says:

    In reply to Angie:

I’m an employee of a No Frills store in the near north and I can safely tell you that our new Price Matching program includes items on any page of the flyer. Here our main competitors are Sobeys, Price Chopper, Metro, and Food Basics (we do not price match with Independent as they are a Loblaw company store).

Since the installment of this program, our store has actually had quite a few people come in and price match items from other stores. 🙂

  29. Leila says:

I just priced match yesterday at No Frills – I showed the Food Basics flyer and bought blueberries for 1.47 a pint and Gold Fish for 1.97 pk.
The cashier had to get the supervisor on duty to complete the transaction.
    I love to price match!

  30. Hi! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this write-up to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

  31. Karen signh says:

I just price matched form a Zehr’s flyer today no problem at No Frills in grand Bend, ON

seems to depend on the store. I have two near me, one will PM other Loblaws stores but the other will not. HO said it is up to the stores to decide what is a ‘local competitor’

  34. WOW just what I was searching for. Came here by searching for hearing aid
