Pharmasave Canada is holding another “Double Coupon Days” event, however this time it appears to be a “Double Coupon DAY” event on January 30, 2012.  Click here for a list of participating stores.  There seems to be a few rules this time around: 1) Maximum accepted coupon value of $2  2) Limit of 3 units purchased at one time.  These rules may be old or new depending on your location, but they are news to me…the last Double Coupon Days I attended had no rules at all.

Which brings me to the following questions: a) Did your Pharmasave location(s) have coupon rules in place during the last Double Coupon Days event?  b) If not, what do you think of the new rules?

pfffft… they just made rules up as they went the last time I was there! haha. The first time I ever went to double coupon days, I had to tell the cashier what was going on! They seriously had no idea!

I think the new rules are great to ensure everyone gets a chance to save

I dont think these rules are across the board. I pre-ordered a bunch of product with my store, and explained my coupons, and she approved it. I’m getting 30 of one item, with a $5 coupon (doubling to $10) and she had no issues with it whatsoever. Also, last time they had this event, if there was no product left on the shelf, we were able to order it in and pay with our “doubled coupons” and the product would arrive in store a few days later. The ladies there were great!

Last time, it was a Pharmasave Double Coupon DAYS — meaning it was the Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

The ladies who work there (Port Coquitlam, BC) were great! They greeted us at the door — upon store opening when there was about 8 of us ladies ready to shop — to advise us of a limit of 3 .….….. which I think is reasonable.

Other than that, it was save, save save. There was NO dollar limit to your doubled coupon & that’s just the point.….. double coupon days!

Why is this SUCH a huge deal in Canada? They do this in the states all the time. They do it weekly. If we did it here more, then it wouldn’t be such a big deal with a rush of customers on the 1 day a year this happens.

We are all just trying to save our families money & keep a little cash in our pockets & being stopped at every chance?

It shouldn’t be Pharmasave is the only company in the lower mainland that ever has double coupon days & then puts in coupon dollar limits.

It’s the manufacturer that gave us the coupon who pays in the end — not the store, so it’s not like it’s coming out of their pocket. They WILL get money back.

And, not everyone can take a FRIDAY OFF (or whatever specific day they shoose) to be at the store to get in on a deal. I think it’s crummy for them to make it a 1 day thing.…… unless they plan on doing it 1 day a month say.

I did write to Pharmasave upon hearing about these new rules yesterday, so if others do as well, they might take our opinions into account. It doesn’t hurt.

Anyways, that’s just my take on things. I really LOVED my last Pharmasave dollar coupon days trip. It saved my family immensely & it is a shame things have changed since.

Michelle l — why do you think that Pharmasave gets the money back from “Double Coupon Day?” What manufacturer would ever give a store double the coupon value? You bet the double value is coming out of their pocket! Just think of it for a minute.
AND what other store in Canada does this? It would be wonderful if other businesses would follow suit but there aren’t many that have such high standards of Customer Service. I think they are trying to find a way to please their customers and as you say “help them save a little money,” without Pharmasave losing their shirts for their efforts.
I’m just grateful they are doing this in the first place and if they have to put restrictions on it then I, for one, will not complain about getting double value for a $2.00 coupon.

I have to say I am disappointed in the retriction Pharmasave has put on their double coupon days. We support this business in our town daily and purchase items on sale as well as regular price. Putting limits on things such as this makes it too much of a hassle to take part in the savings. i will take my coupons to the Walmarts and Superstores and use them there saving me the grief. I too will be contacting the head office expressing my concerns.

When do Walmart and Superstores have double coupon days?? It’s great to have sales in stores and its great to use coupons, but people seem to forget that these stores are in business to make money. They have staff to pay and buildings to pay for, business taxes, advertising, property taxes, insurance, heat, hydro, telephone etc. etc. etc. Not to mention the thousands of dollars worth of donations they are asked for each year by charities, school groups and the local bowling league! So here they are offering double coupon days and people complain because they only allow a limit of 3 per customer? Let’s be reasonable here!!!
And by the way, the “double” part of the coupon WILL be covered by Pharmasave, so it IS money directly out of their pocket.

  8. Bargain Seeker

I will take whatever they are offering. A maximum of 3 items is great. And the $2 coupon limit is still better than nothing.

  9. what?

Fair is Fair.. limits allows others to save too, as some people might clear the shelves..

DOUBLE COUPON DAY IS GREAT IN REGARDS TO WHETHER OR NOT PHARMASAVE IS LOOSING MONEY … I WOULD SAY NO… YOU REALLY HAVE TO WATCH YOUR PRICES… MOST OF THE TIME YOU CAN GET THE PRODUCT ON SALE AT A BOX STORE AND USE THE COUPON REGULARY AND COME OUT AHEAD.
