Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited recalls Mastercraft 50′ and 100′, 12/3 gauge, 3-tap, Outdoor Extension Cords. The prongs have been incorrectly inserted into the mould, which can produce sparks from the female end of the cord, posing a risk of injury.
As of March 14, 2017, the company has received four reports of sparks coming from the female end of the cord in Canada, and no reports of injuries.
Impacted products can be identified by the four-digit batch code located on the male end, with the first two digits indicating the month and the last two indicating the year the product was manufactured. All products manufactured between October 2015 and February 2017 will be included in the recall.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the affected Mastercraft 50′ and 100′ 12/3 gauge, 3-tap, Outdoor Extension Cords and return the product to their local Canadian Tire store for a refund.
