Shoppers Drug Mart is having their first 20x points event of the year for one day only. The day is Saturday January 2 and you have to spend a minimum of $50 on almost anything in store (usual exclusions will apply). It’s a great time to start rebuilding points for the next bonus redemption day.
Thanks to masutaichi for this great heads up!
Hopefully that have some good deals, im one purchase away from a free Wii on redemption day.
good time to buy a wii
buy a 200 gift card first 10x points 25$
buy the game 20x points 75$
But you know some people are so stupid, they line up 209$ from walmart
Do the math 219% – 100$ = ?
Now use your points for the wii fit board = free …. plus 25$ in points
I don’t think you get bonus points on gift cards, and Shoppers is wickedly overpriced and the service sucks these days,I would rather give my business where it is appreciated.
any one knows if i can use the $20 gift card i got from earlier promo (where you had to spend $75…) as part of the $50?
thanks!
I think you can use it like cash….
read.. learn to read… only Shoppers Drugs gift cards get the 10 x points
add to that spend 50$ and get 10$ gift card
Add to all this the sale is for seniors… most stores are 55 but call and make sure….
im really exicted for this one! my sdm has tons of perfume sets at 50% off! and hopefully quo brushes are 40% off again!
Joe, where did you see the 10X points for SDM GC?
Joe, learn to read… you only get regular points on Shoppers gift cards, always, no exceptions.
“Joe, where did you see the 10X points for SDM GC?”

Hey, Joe Mead…
I’ve NEVER seen bonus points on Shoppers Gift Cards, and the
20X points promo email I received from them as well as their
website says right on it…
Excludes prescription purchases, Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points®, Shoppers Optimum® MasterCard® points, products that contain codeine, tobacco products (where applicable), lottery tickets, stamps, transit tickets and passes, event tickets, electronic gift cards, prepaid phone cards,
SEE Right above here?? NOT ON GIFT CARDS….
Joe Mead, by 10x the points, I think you did your math wrong, $200 gift card, would only get you 2000 optimum points, why did you put $25? I’m confused on that…
by 10x, I think he means, for every $1 spent, you get 10 optimum points…
i have chose not to shop at this sale..instead i am shopping tomorrow for $10 gift card…i still get quite a few points but gives me card to use during the month (when i am gonna need it!) for milk & eggs etc…our s hoppers is smallish & i hate the crowds on saturdays normally let alone a day like today, i will be shopping first thing tomorrow as the doors open..
^^^ Good for you nbyd! It’s not always just the points that makes it work best for different people. We can number crunch all we like but then sometimes more practical considerations come into play. We can weigh these values objectively or subjectively or some combination and whatever works best for you! As long as you’re getting something back for your money spent. SDM actually gives us lots of choices that way, whether you only strategize for points or other ways, like you’re doing. Pay attention to the expiry date on the $10 SDM coupon. ***two thumbs up!***
well… I visited two SDM locations this afternoon, I was looking for a good deal for getting 20X points, however I was quite disappointed. Many things are not on sale, except those X’mas items. I didn’t buy anything at SDM today…
you do not get bonus points on gift cards.
I purcahsed a $50 gc this morning and got 500 points. (10 points per dollar)
I then used that gc for my $50 worth of purchases on which i received the 20x points. (200 points per dollar)
Sometimes you can get bonus points on gift cards when they have a SPECIFIC event targeting gift cards. However, I haven’t found any reference to this 10x event Joe was talking about.
Found the same thing with the gift cards- only the regular points awarded. As to nbyd- I completely agree with your choice- in fact- I have done it in the past. But now I am a mom- my son requires a special formula and it is the same price @ SDM as it is @ Walmart. We bought a month’s worth of formula, his probiotic, as well as some of the food specials and received 61,000 points for the purchase. This was one hour out of my early morning that was worth the points. You have to make a loyalty program work for you.
Does anyone know why SMD stopped selling i pods? & when did they stop?
I don;t believe you’re appropriate, have you really read the details?
