Starbucks Canada Deals: Get An Iced Matcha For $0.85!

This is a life hack that is not only going to save you mad cash, but also be a much lighter hit on your calorie intake for the day as it will significantly cut the added sugar from your morning caffeine run. If you’re a fan of Starbucks’ Matcha powder – or any of their matcha drinks for that matter – then you should listen up to this little insider tip. If you ask your barista to make you an iced water plus two scoops of matcha powder (for a tall you’d only need one scoop and for a venti, three) then you’ll have yourself an iced matcha drink for the grand total of just $0.85!

The two scoops of matcha powder cost $0.85, so if you add more scoops then your drink will cost a little more, but nevertheless, when was the last time you ever heard of a drink costing less than a dollar at Starbucks??

If you find the drink a little too watery, then you can always go over to the standup bar and add some cream or milk to your drink from the free standing carafes.

Matcha tea when made with simmer temp. water will steep into tea. Cold ice water is only going to clump the tea powder (mechanical mixer might almost blend the powder and water) and adding cream is not going to help matters. Better off to order a proper tea or make your own at home.

Ciel I agree with you. I like green tea with macha and box from No Frills is about $5. It cost me $0.25 to make this tea. If I cool the tea in the fridge, hydro costs and everything still adds up to less than $0.85 for the home made tea.

Is this deal for real? I called a couple of local stores and they said they they don’t have this deal.
    Can someone confirm?

good grief, No this isn’t a ‘deal’ ..someone just rang in your drink incorrectly. If you order a ‘matcha water’ Starbucks standard is that the barista is to ring it in as a ‘customer iced tea’ which depending on the size it’s anywhere from $2+ to $5+. And yes as someone posted above it will be clumpy cause we’re not suppose to shake the cup or make it in the tea shaker, we’re just suppose to give a swirl with the lid on and hope for the best.

Oh and side note, deff not ‘lighter on the calories’ the first ingredient in SB matcha is sugar, then the green tea. So enjoy your sugar water.

    Seiko,
It’s not a deal. It’s a “hack” You have to specifically order a tall/grande/venti cup of water with X scoops of matcha powder. You will only be charged for the powder because the water is free.

It’s just so undignified. Can’t you just buy the powder at J-town or online?
