The Door Holding Game – Polite Distances?

I came across this fun “Passive-Aggressive Door-Holding Game” on Digg. I found it very interesting since we’re still considered one of the politest nations in the world (just google Canada polite nation) and holding the door for others is something most of us do. Here’s the game 😀

Door Holding Game

This game reminded me of a hilarious video I had seen a couple of years ago. Luckily someone on Digg posted it:

Do you hold the door for others? How close do they have to be? Any exceptions for pretty women or handsome guys?

I do, but they have to be pretty darn close…unless they’ve got their hands full or clearly need help. I hate having a door held open for me if I’m super far away from the door – I’m not a fan of rushing it!

    LMAO

Loved this! I do hold the door for people, but only if they’re right behind me, or if they need help like Tammy says above.

    Hilarious, thanks for posting.

I don’t mind holding the door open for someone behind me but I hate it when they don’t get hold of the door themselves and just walk straight past me without even a thank you, When that happens I just say out loud so they can hear me. “You’re welcome, this is giving me practice for my next job as a doorman at a hotel”

Love this it is dead on! I agree with u Ann doesnt it burn u? Especially when they are right in front of you open it just wide enough for their wide load to squeeze through and it slams right behind them in your face. Thats when I say wow nice manners today . But hey I still hold the door for people. This video is awesome! Remember thank you and excuse me are still in style. 🙂

I loved this. I agree with you Ann, if I have enough manners to hold the door, the least someone can do is say “Thank you”. So thanks to Boo for posting this and opening the door for me to say my feelings lol.

To be honest with you THAT WAS HILARIOUS!. do he same thing hold the door for everyone i just dislike it when they don’t have the decency to say thank you.

Too funny! I agree with Ann and I wouold like to add that as a mom with a baby, I struggle with the mall doors every visit and now I use the wheelchair button to automatically open the door so I can get through with the stroller and all the baby paraphenilia that I pack for our trip to the mall – and I love it (read scarcasm here) when able bodied people jump in front of as the door begins to open or are huffing behind my back that I’m taking so long. I have remarked to these people that there are other doors they can use, but no one seems to want to argue with a new mom full of off-balanced hormones.

I always hold the door for people, and I hate it when they run. Its like i actually inconvenienced them by trying to help them out. sometimes, i will actually let the door close and then walk away fast, so it looks like they were farther from the door than they they thought were when i went through it. Depends how close they are when i open the door.

    NICE ONE.
regardless of distance, I usually hold the door for older people, people holding things in both their hands/arms, people with strollers, and people with dogs.
