Tropicana is Increasing their Prices

Posted by & filed under Reviews / Canada.

Tropicana makes one of the best not from concentrate orange juices out there and what I love about this brand is that I can basically get a great tasting orange juice even though I’m so darn picky about pulp!

My mom likes the extra pulp version where as I can simply do with out pulp all together. To me it feels like I’m drinking a glass of hair instead of orange juice….gross!

Tropicana has announced that due to the weather Florida experienced this winter a lot of the oranges were not usable for making orange juice. So, surprise-surprise, we’re going to be experiencing a price increase on the larger bottles while the smaller bottles will be down sized but the price will remain the same.

While I would normally pay more for a product that I like a lot I’m not sure I can justify spending the additional money on orange juice considering there are other brands that offer a lot of the same qualities (pulp free, calcium enriched, not from concentrate etc.,)

If you’re a Tropicana fan how will this affect you?

Will you switch to another brand or will you continue to shell out for this brand?

Can you suggest a different brand of OJ that’s just as good?

I have bought 10+ Minute Maid OJ from Price Chopper for the last month

Low Calcium, Low Pulp, Lots of Pulp — 1.89L — all for $2, for the last month

So, can we assume that once they recuperate thier losses they will return to regular prices and return the bottles to their original sizes ???
For some reason that logic NEVER works in the reverse.
    GOUGE !!!!

Ill have to agree with many of the posters on here as well. SIMPLY ORANGE is by far the best OJ & an excellent deal! We go to Cuba quite frequently & I love their orange juice. They put the entire orange thro the machine…and it all goes into your glass. Mmmmm Mmmm Mmmmm True OJ with no additives. SIMPLY ORANGE is very much like the OJ I love so much in Cuba. Nothing like fresh squeezed OJ & SIMPLY ORANGE is it!!

ha ha what citrusgouged said is funny. Tropicana has miles and miles of orchards in Florida up near Disney land so thats the only place where they grow oranges for their juice. im not sure where other companies get them from.

I will def be switching — I already don’t buy it as often and Minute Maid as well as other brands have been good substitutes.

I became a big fan of smoothies in a bottle by PC

Depending on what store I’m at or the sales, I tend to grab either President’s Choice Valencia OJ or Simply Orange. After these two all other OJ drinks just taste artificial to me.

I find Tropicana tastes way too sour for me. And the price point compared to other brands is ridiculous. Simply Orange is good but so is the Minute Maid not from concentrate. The PC brand orange juice is not bad either and a fair bit cheaper than Tropicana.

The oranges were not affected that bad prices went up $1.00 a box wholesale, heck when your pepsi co you either contract or have your own orchards. it’s just a great excuse to raise the cost of the juice. Pepsi co is famous for this, heck look at your Quaker bars now, smaller box (6) units now, was 8.

Most people have seen increased prices on their produce.

It’s a myth that Tropicana gets its oranges from Florida, and that their juice is fresh. Not from concentrate only means that they didn’t suck the water out and reconstitute it later. It looks like what Tropicana does exactly the opposite of that, they keep the orange water, and suck everything else out, keep it in vats underground for long periods of time, and then reconstitute it by adding in flavor. See the article in the link below.
