Wal Mart is Selling What?!

Posted by & filed under Other / Canada.

lens1416432_homer_simpson_grim_reaper1On my morning browse of the deals section I came across an interesting post from blueegg.  Apparently WalMart.com (the American Site) is selling Caskets and Urns online.  So now your savings can even continue in the afterlife.  This was the funniest thing I’ve seem all day so I quickly emailed the link to everyone in my address book and thought I should share it with the rest of you too!  I especially love that funeral needs falls under the “For Your Home” section of the website.  Well, I guess it is a home of sorts…

Click here to check out the casket selection.

Thanks blueegg for making my morning!

Judge approves $85M class action against Wal-Mart

A Nevada federal court judge gave final approval Wednesday to an $85 million class-action lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. amid a wage and hour dispute.

Involving 30 states and more than 3 million hourly employees, the suit claimed Wal-Mart employees were asked to work off the clock and breaks were cut short or not given consistently.

Well, I don’t think it’s funny, maybe odd at the beginning — but frankly, it’s prudent. For someone who has been through having to go through the process of selecting one at a funeral home, after the death of a family member THEN being floored by the prices, and feeling you have no options — maybe this will open the marketplace up a bit.

    Huh.. that’s interesting.

I was told by a friend that visited an American Costco that they sell caskets there.

My family jokes that whoever kicks the bucket in next 10 years [at least] will end up in an unmarked grave next to our dogs because everyone has zero funds for anything, lmao.. Gotta laugh or we’d all cry ^.^

Well why not…I am sure they want to capitalize on something like that…

I heard wind of this last year that they were going to. Honestly I think its great for people that can’t afford a 10 000 dollar funeral but still don’t want to be creamated. This makes a proper burial for those that wish that a chance to recieve that.

And really, I doubt anyone cares if the casket came from a top of the line seller or walmart.

    From the Toronto Star:
Wal-Mart’s grave situationDesperate to revive its ‘dead money’ stock, Wal-Mart launches into price wars on every front, even taking on the funeral industry

The problem, in a nutshell, is that Wal-Mart still sells on price alone. Depth of inventory is too costly to carry. Fashionability does not extend to natural fabrics. And, as with the recent experience of a Time reporter canvassing a new Wal-Mart in New Jersey, I, too, left my Wal-Mart after an hour having been smiled at by none of the two dozen or so employees I encountered. Even the greeter hadn’t noticed me. It’s not often that shoppers return to a store where their presence didn’t matter to anyone there, except when price is their only concern.”

REMEMBER TO READ THE FINE PRINT
** at the Pearly Gates you’re met by a Wal*Mart greeter instead of St. Peter
