the fact that they won’t refund money on items sold at XS Cargo just goes to show that they KNOW everything they sell is crap.
they’re just taking advantage of people during tough economical times and hoping to sucker-in new victims.
anyone who works for that store must have sold their soul to the devil because what kind of person could live with the guilt of continuously disappointing sooo many customers, sooo often, knowingly.
customers may have a 50/50 chance of finding something ok in that store (if you’re lucky), but you’re better off just buying stuff at garage sales and help recycle, at least you know where they live.

Ok, so I have been reading all the negative comments about electronics, but does anyone have anything to comment on about the furniture. I am looking at purchasing two stools for my bar and a patio set. Just wondering if anyone has purchased furniture and if they had any issues.…

      Thanks

    3. T

Please everyone DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this store. I bought some bar stools that didn’t fit together because they weren’t built properly. I’m sure the rest of the ones in the store are the same so now I’m basically F#$@‘d.

    4. Daren

You may save some money buying from this store but you are gambling with your time and the money you do spend. Is it really worth the headache? If everyone stops shopping there it will force them to close, at least in your area.

You People make me sick listening to your Whinning and Bitching, And Guess What, I Do listen to you Stupid People Almost Every Day,
Waaaa Waaaa my __________ doesn’t work its defective, Waaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaa I want my money back, And Guess what.….. I grab the item go and test it and it works fine, then I say Sir or Maam you have to turn the ON button on, or if you read the Manual it says this is how the item works! Get that Everyone.… The product Comes WITH A MANUAL, maybe you should READ ( i know for most of you its been YEARS) but it actually comes in handy sometimes! You Can READ the Signs that we have Posted And you Can READ what it says on your Reciept, Then you Can UNDERSTAND how your product works, And UNDERSTAND that you Chinced out on your item and if it works for as long as the 30 DAY Warranty then you GOT YOUR MONEYS WORTH! As for the Customers that Actually know what our store is about I THANK YOU for being a LOYAL CUSTOMER, as for the Rest of you F$cking Whinning B&tches F#ck off and go Shop Somewhere Else Then.

    6. Fred

They sell garbage and then won’t take it back. Avoid then like a Hatian hooker. Save your money and buy real items from real stores that have an interest in serving you as a customer. These people are the worst bottom feeders you will ever come across. What do you have to do to be a manager at xscargo? Grade 3 edumacashun or just getting off of 3 year parole?

    7. Mike

I am not affiliated with XS Cargo, but do sell them merchandise on occasion. I’m not going to slam or defend them, but here is one of the many differences between them and some of the other retailers mentioned here:

When XS Cargo purchases a closeout deal they buy it outright. Beyond that there may be a manufacturers or sellers warranty, but they own the merchandise.

When you go to a store like Wal Mart they are charging you much more because they purchase merchandise from the vendor with the proviso that they will take back anything that a customer wishes to return for any reason and in turn return that to the vendor with no questions asked. The vendor uses a formula to figure out how many items to expect to have returned (defective, unwanted gifts, changed mind) and that is charged on top of the real cost of the item.

When you return merchandise to a store like XS Cargo they have nowhere to return the merchandise to — whereas a store like Wal Mart gives it back to the vendor whether it is defective or not.

Now, most XS items will have a manufacturers warranty, it is just that you will have to send it in to the manufacturer and wait for it to be returned — which takes a lot of time and can be a huge inconvenience.

Simply put — if you want to be able to return merchandise to the store without question then this is not the case with XS. If you want to take the risk and pay a much cheaper (usually) price then you can go there.

      Wow,

That’s one heck of a lot of emotionfrom above posts.
I actually started my XS Cargo adventure roughly 8 years ago purchasing a little fart gag present as well as a drill. The remote fart gift was a real hit at birthday party, whereas the drill was a dude, (no power)

I returned the drill for the same product while being advised by XS employee that the drill I bought was very low end,(good for putting up a few pictures) but for $5 more $19.99 a much superior drill existed.

Being dutch and habitually frugile, I once again left with the lowest end drill carried by a discount store. Guess what, It had power but after a couple of uses the trigger stuck in the on position.

I looked for my receipt but had thrown it out while cleaning my wallet. Nevertheless, I headed back to the store,(it had only been about two weeks with second drill) to try my luck at returning it. Feeling a little sheepish, I gave my story politely to the cashier, (it was not busy so no embarassment for cashier or me)and found that the same fellow I talked to the last time was working.

He remembered me and checked with his manager to see if he could bend the existing policy about having the receipt present. The manager OK’d The return and the employee asked if I wanted the same drill again. I told him that I would definitely buy the better drill this time around.

20 bucks for a drill, still at least a 50% saving from anywhere else and still working to this day. Note, I am not a trades person using said drill 5 days/week

I have since purchased well over $1000 per year at this same store and have had 3 or 4 products each year that need to be returned.

Receipt never an issue anymore as I tape It inside box of whatever I buy and don’t throw out box till warranty expires, (receipts for gifts always put in special shoe/tax box. I do buy the extended plan on some items, ie.home theatres systems and I always talk to the employees I have come to know casually there. It hit me that since they don’t make any sales commissions, they have nothing to gain by lying.

For the trouble of returning a product roughly once every three months or so, I have managed to by interesting XMAS gifts as well as household needs and wants. I guesstimate that I have saved over 5000 dollars since I started shopping at XS Cargo. Add in roughly 25 visits over the years for returns and I still come to the good over 200 dollars per inconvenience.

I have noticed a tightening of policy over the last couple of years and I asked my friendly contacts at my location what was up. They said that as the number of new people coming to the stores increases, the expenses for returned goods, 2 year replacemenmt plan abuse, packages being ripped opened and store demos losing parts .

They told me that the upper management found newer clients were abusing the stores products and concept to the point that higher prices had to be considered. Excess goods at bargain prices is the market niche for this firm so the prices stayed low but policy had to be adjusted to ensure the efficacy of the stores products and the ability of the company to exist. ie The customers have to learn to work with the store, its employees and management if they want to enjoy the deals as much as I obviously do.

New customers welcome to the party, but, if you want to pay the cheapest prices around but expect to have your cake and eat it too
then you don’t belong near any retail motto that says “THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT”

I had 3 MP3 players from there one shorted out on my computer and I lost a lot of important documents, the other 2 just stopped working. Almost everypne i talked to has had problems with their products and service, they are very ignorant when you try to bring a defective product back and have no intention of solving the problem. Here in Halifax the XS Cargo even sells items that people brought back!! There are a whole table full of MP3’s that don’t work and they are being sold! Someone needs to take action against them.

    10. XS CARGO INFO 101

Well Folks let me try and explain a little bit of the retail world to all of you misinformed people. First Off most retail chains charge more money to cover the cost of the return policy so companies like XS CARGO can afford to charge less for items than what other company’s charge due to the no return no refund final sale policy so say a 19$ radio at XS Cargo brand new is 45$ at Future Shop. Secondly all refurbished items sold at XS CARGO or any where for that matter must be refurbished to original factory specifications it is not the retailers fault if there is a defect but the manufacturer XS CARGO is purchasing the product in good faith that the company they are purchasing the item from is following the standards. Thirdly any associate who is willing to defend their company or corporation should be given a pat on the back not rudeness from people unknown after all they are only doing their jobs and following their policy’s we all work for someone whether we agree with everything or not! Now for one last closing statement please be nice to the people around you for everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

    11. unhappyclient100

XS Cargo is great for buying non-electronic products or products that do not require a guarantee. You cannot get your money back and some of the companies they represent do not even have a contact number or a customer service department. XS Cargo’s customer service department in Edmonton is ineffective and getting anything out of them is next to impossible.

    12. Informed Consumer

For the record, I have purchased numerous items from them, some good and some bad, and I will continue to do so because I like the deals on most items. But always, ALWAYS get the extra warranty on any electronics items.

From the XS Cargo website FAQ section:

      Q. WHAT IS YOUR WARRANTY POLICY?

      A. Some products carry a manufacturer’s or distributors warranty. Other products have a warranty from XS Cargo. Defective items will be replaced with the same item within 30 days of purchase. If the same item is unavailable, a full refund will be issued. 2 and 3 Year Product Protection Plans are available from $3.99. Manufacturers warranties are accompanied by a 7 day xs cargo warranty. The same conditions as the 30 day warranty apply. After 7 days, the customer must deal with the manufacturer / service agent directly. All warranty returns require product in original packaging with all accessories, manuals and a valid sales receipt.”

For heaven’s sake people…learn to read! The company clearly states it’s return policy everywhere! If you buy a refurbished product, opt for the Product Protection Plan. You’re saving enough on your purchase to pay for it and still come out ahead, plus you get an extened product warranty. Not a REFUND, a PRODUCT REPLACEMENT! Same as Future Shop’s plan, no difference except for the cost of the item.

Nothing bothers me more than people who neglect to pay attention to the obvious.

    13. Fancesca

I had the most horrible experience with XS Cargo. I went and bought an electric sweeper at the store. The product broke right away before I even had a chance to use it. It was cheaply made. I went back to the store and wanted to return it. I wanted to return it and get a different product. I don’t mind paying a bit more to get a better one. I proceed to the customer service guy and ask if I could do so. He said I’m not allow to exchange for a different product even if I’m willing to pay more. He said it’s in the policy. I ask him, I wasn’t told and it was not on my receipt. I showed him my receipt, he looked at it and didn’t see it either. He then it said it’s written on the back of the store. I then ask him if he could show it to me. I will accept it if it’s written somewhere or someone actually told me this before I bought the product. He couldn’t come up with anything. He then proceed to get a so call “manager”.

Before I could begun to explain what I wanted to do, she wouldn’t let me talk and proceed to raise her voice to “SCREAM AND YELL” at me like I was her worse enemy. I tried to ask her to lower her voice and let me talk since I’m the customer. She didn’t let me finished my sentence before she start again. She even use the “F**K” word with me. I do not swore and I’m starting to get a little choke up and ask her not to swear at me. She continued to do so and once she finished screaming, yelling and swearing at me as to how I’m wrong and she won’t do anything. She left me standing their with my jaw dropped and unable to react and comprehend as to what had just happened. I was left standing alone without any help and a broken product. I was so upset and I don’t like to create a commotion at the store so I went over to another Customer Service Rep to get a new sweeper (same product). Within a week after I have it, the machine broke again. I was too disgust with the store and their business etiquette and so call customer service that I decided not to come back to exchange a broken product and put me through the ordeal again. It’s not worth it. I never wanted to see that lady who call herself a manager at the store nor do I want to have anything to do with the store again. Please reconsider when you go there to buy things from them. The next time you go there. Please consider this. Even if the product is cheaper there do you really want to support a business that swear at you and treated you like their worse enemy when you need them to keep their end of the deal?

    14. a happy customer

I shop at the Sudbury location and have never had any problems, the staff is aways hepful and honest. I will be shopping there for years to come. I am sure people have better things to be angry about than a coffee maker. Keep up the good work.

    15. ash

I have had no problems w/ XS Cargo…but have only bought non-electronic items. I wonder if it is worth it to get a snow blower from them :s

    16. Louis Mezei

XS Cargo is a store of bargains. Significant savings can be had , over other stores selling similar product. Before I buy anything from XS I have it tested.(mosly tv sets). Just bought my third tv and they been trouble free from day one. Do your due dilligence especially with large ticket items…say 2oo to 400 dollars worth. By sticking to
THEIR RATHER MEDIEVEL NO REFUD POLOCY, THEY CAN RE-FILL THE SHELVES WITH IRRESISTEBLE BARGAINS THAT THOUSANDS OF ILL INFORMED SHOPPES SIMPLY CANNOT RESIST. AND BUY…BUY…BUY. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.„YOU FOOLS.

I used to work at Xs cargo and I really don’t get people. It is clearly stated what the policy is all over the store and the cashiers are trained to recite this policy every single purchase.” Everything here is a final sale there are no returns or exchanges you will have a 30 day replacement warranty on the toaster to exchange for the exact same item if it’s defective just make sure you hang onto the receipt packaging and accessories” So this gives you the chance to not buy the items if you are unsure of the product or policy. Because everything is a fucking final sale and theres no returns or exchanges , if your not happy with this don’t shop there and don’t come in and fucking complain to the workers. The thing that gets me is when ppl try to return a 40 dollar microwave for example and say ” it doesn’t heat up the food good enough” really did you expect the 40 dollar microwave to work as good as one for 200 dollars? Really get real people. There’s a lot of good deals in the store but again with such low prices don’t expect the products to be perfect. Thank you for shopping at Xs cargo and have a great day:D

I bought a bluetooth earpiece at the Vaughan location a few weeks ago. The price was $15.99. I took it home and it would not charge. I brought it back and told them the problem. They brought me the same one and I plugged it in there at the store. This time it did charge and has been fine now. Hopefully it remains that way.

    20. B.

Today I found out exactly how worthless the extended warranty of XS Cargo is.

Yes they will give you a voucher or a replacement item of same value. And yes they TERMINATE your extended Warranty.

Now if you buy a 3 year warranty – you have spent $30. Plus the cost of your item. If you buy a warranty from the manufacturer not only do you get a replacement BUT the warranty will cover the new item for the balance of the Warranty period still outstanding.

Our refurbished item is the second item we have had to RETURN to XS Cargo in the past 8 months. First one was within 10 days and was not on extended warranty nor out of the 90 days given by the manufacturer on refurbished items. This second item cost more and had a 3 year warranty. It broke in less than 8 months.

I have always believed a warranty on a product was for the entire period and was TRANSFERRED to the replacement item. All GOOD companies provide this type of warranty.

So my recommendation to anyone that buys from XS Cargo – do not buy their warranty – contact manufacturer themselves and get a warranty. They at least won’t TERMINATE the warranty when a problem occurs.

As of right now – I am through buying ANYTHING from XS Cargo. They’ve had two defective products (Computer speakers from Logitech and Quisinart Bread Maker) since November 2010. Far too high a defect rate in my books. Not to mention their warranty isn’t worth the paper its written on.

    21. Billy D

I bought a universal cell phone charger that said it would work with Samsung phones. It didn’t fit my Samsung phone, so I asked to exchange it for a charger that would work for me or get a store credit. I got neither and I only purchased the item an hour earlier. I didn’t even have to destroy the packaging to test it and the package could easily be returned to the shelf for resale as the packaging was undamaged.

I definitely won’t buy anything from XS Cargo even if they should change their return policy. They practice hit and run. Perhaps they should take a page out of Princess Auto’s policy. They sell everyday tools and mechanical gadgets, often surplus items, for less than Home Depot or Canadian Tire but their motto is “No Sale is final until you are satisfied”. Princess Auto will continue to get my business but XS Cargo will not. I hope those thieves at XS Cargo go under.

    22. Billy D

Memarion: Just because XS Cargo has a written and archaic return policy doesn’t make it acceptable. I can’t think of another retailer that has such an awful return/exchange policy. Can you? I have often found more reputable retailers (I think all other retailers are more reputable than XS Cargo)that offer similar items at prices that are about the same or lower than XS Cargo and have a good return policy. The best thing for people to do if they find XS Cargo’s policy unacceptable is to take their business elsewhere, as I will from this day forward.

    23. Craig

I don’t get why they are so stupid. The reason that most retail stores let you return defective products is so that they keep your business, and they keep an okay reputation.

XS Cargo was so greedy today in that they wouldn’t take back a defective product (the nextbook for $128). They want to keep that $30 profit, but will lose it as I won’t ever be back, and I will tell other people about them.

Isn’t that just bad business sense?

Also, does anyone have a successful strategy for returning items to them? Should I keep bringing it back to different people. I don’t want an exchange (which they didn’t offer anyways), I want my refund.

    24. hp mini 210 review

I’d should check with you here. Which is not something I usually do! I take pleasure in reading a publish that can make people think. Additionally, thanks for allowing me to comment!

    25. Kerry

XS Cargo is like any discount store they buy cheap stuff and sell it cheap it’s the volume they’re interested in, I’ve bought some stuff there most is third rate which is to be expected and I’ve a couple of items (a DVR & digital camera) that have worked really well but that’s just luck of the draw I think. What gets me is their my way or the highway attitude towards toward their customers, there was no reasoning with their manager in the Halifax NS store all I got when I tried to explain my problem was you don’t you don’t like it you can leave. Now I may be a little old fashioned but it seems reasonable to assume that if you want a customer to return to your store you treat them with respect and listen to what they have to say both good and bad and use any feedback to help you make a shopping experience better for them and others, but not XS Cargo it seems. Anyway I left the store that day and have never been back that was almost 2 years ago, not that I was their greatest customer but I used to go there 2–3 times a month and spend an average of 30 dollars per trip not a huge amount by retail standards but now it’s going into someone else’s pocket now not theirs.

    27. Hey Craig

I don’t get why they are so stupid.“

“I don’t want an exchange (which they didn’t offer anyways), I want my refund.”

How can you be so stupid? Their policy is no refunds. No means no.

Most of the complaints here are from whiners. I’m not saying XS Cargo is great, but some people here complain about the return policy, which they failed to read or to comprehend. Other have validly complained that their merchandise is junk, and I’m sure some/a lot of it is, so buyer beware.

    28. joe

SSOB OGRAC SX and Memarion are perfect examples of the idiots that they hire at xs cargo. I repeat do not waste your money, stay clear of any xs cargo store. There merchandise and there employees suck big time.
