You know you’re a ’90s kid if…

Other / Canada

  • You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.
  • You remember reading “Goosebumps”
  • You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
  • You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles
  • Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!
  • You remember when the new Beanie Babies and talking Elmo were always sold out.
  • You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.
  • You know the Macarena by heart.
  • You know that “WOAH” comes from Joey from “Blossom” and that “How Rude!” comes from Stephanie from “Full House”
  • You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
  • You always wanted to send in a tape to America’s Funniest Home Videos… but never taped anything funny.
  • You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool.

I soooo had new kids on the block ‘figurines’ (like Barbie) and played the macarena at one of my birthday parties – I think I’ve read every goosebumps book and was so excited when they turned it into a tv show and THANK GOODNESS ITS FRIDAY!!!! hours of fantastic tv – who remembers Boy Meets World – oh yes!

Seriously though, try watching re-runs of that TGIF programming now and it’s sooooo cheesy. Good cheesy, but I don’t think people realized how schlocky it was back then. Thank gawd TBS has reruns.

LOL – I just saw Topanga (sp.) the chick from Boy Meets World – she was on the Tyra Banks show last night – I was like OH MY GOD TOPANGA! – it was wierd because I read this 90’s thing and then all of a sudden started seeing stuff from the list (ie. my cousins had slap bracelets and stick on earrings) History shall repeat itself.
And yes I do I agree the old TGIF was super (good) cheesy!
