24 Days till Christmas — Santa Claus Made Me Cry

Santa Crying Baby Child

$$$wise sent me a very interesting idea for the Christmas countdown!

Ever had your picture taken with Santa Claus?
I didn’t realize how many scared-of-Santa pictures there are until I started searching and there seems to be a lot!
I (Boo Radley) too have a pic of baby me crying and trying to get away from Santa. Unfortunately my Mom confiscated all my baby pics and wouldn’t let me have them because she knows how I easily lose stuff so I couldn’t post it on here :P
Do you have a picture of yourself or your kids scared of Santa?

I always adored Santa and have a super cute pic of my brother and i both on Santa’s knee.…i was 3 and my brother was 5. Somewhere amongst the other 8 million photos stored away in a box, lol.

One of my neighbors dressed up as Santa when i was 2 years old and came over to surprise me and my big sis…apparently we both screamed our lungs out, and he felt so bad. Luckily,a candycane did the trick to settle us, haha. (Let that be a lesson to all would-be Santas. Carry candy canes!)i don’t have a picture, though. Wish i did, that would be hilarious.

Every year my husband and I take our son to have a pic with Santa, this year we have 2 kids, we were so excited it was our youngest baby first pic with Santa, we go to Jean Coutu, where you can get a free pic with Santa, this time we have to chance Santa, he was hiding we told our kid because he wasn’t at the first pharmacie we went, so we found him at on the second try, I went in first with the baby and we were waiting for my husband when 2 year old saw Santa he started screaming! my husband had to hold the him and I held the 10 months old…the eldest was crying and the youngest was asleep…we will never forget this pic..

the year before last, I took my 2 year old to see the same santa we see every year and her face pretty much looks like the one you’ve got pictured here.. they asked me if i wanted to retake it (it’s digital these days, yo) and i said i’d rather let her laugh at this one in years to come ;)
this year i’ve got 2 brave little kids to sit on the big red guy’s lap :) — we’ll see how it goes!

Santa is right up there on the list with Clowns on scary-things-adults-assume-kids-love.

I’ve been very lucky. My kids never cried or fussed for Santa. My two daughters had their pics taken every year with Santa from when the oldest was 6 weeks old to about 10 yrs. old. Then one time when my daughters were in their teens & again in their twenties they got their pics taken with Santa… just for Mom. Sniff sniff!

    Glad you liked it, Boo.

So, whatever did people do with their scared-of-Santa pictures?

Most of us have pics like this one because, come on, he is a BIG, old guy, with more hair on his face than most dogs. He wears a bright red suit, he’s a stranger and wants you to sit on his lap and tell him what you want for Christmas! And then it really hits the little munchkins.….this is the scary dude that WATCHES them all year round, to see if they are being good or not, and HE’S the one that sees them when they are sleeping!!!!
That is a pretty scary scenio in a kids mind!!!!
Me personally (now that I am an adult), he’s a pretty kewl guy!!! LOL

That’s pretty funny that this post showed up on here, because last night my Mom was going through all her photos and sent me home with a paperbag full, and looking through them this morning I found a photo of my daughter on Santa’s knee when she was 3, and the look on her face is priceless, she is almost to the point of crying, squirming to get off his knee…lol..I would post but have no scanner!

No pics, but I was a deathly shy child, and would NOT sit on Santa’s knee. That picture is funny though. Santa looks like he’s thinking “I do NOT get paid enough to do this!!”

Bookworm Gal…I have a similar story to yours. When I was little we lived on an army base in Germany. These army guys would dress up like Santa and his elves each year and come around to the apartment buildings. My mom opened the door and you would have thought that Satan was standing there. I completely freaked. I screamed and cryed. The poor Santa and his elves were horrified. No doubt they still talk about it 28 years later.

    omg that website is hilarious.
Number 12 has to be my favourite.
I never had any issue with Santa per se but my Mom took me to see Ronald McDonald in Toronto back in the olden days. I remember being excited until I saw this big clown face coming at me.

p.s. is it possible to set up an area on here where people can share their wonderful, or not so wonderful, Santa photos?

  16. Amy

Yeah I would add one of my daughter, I think it is the same Santa! (Fairview Mall?)
