Their skill testing question is ambiguous. Order of operations says the answer should be 17-(4×3)=5, though some would put (17-4)x3=39.

Oh come on people… It’s not like it’s rocket science lol… Multiplication has a higher priority over addition! And when in doubt simply ask Google: http://www.google.ca/search?q=17-4×3
I know.. it is amazing how quickly people lose their basic math…
