MMM’ wouldn’t go for aluminum…stainless steel is a better choice.
I bought one for my son today cause he wanted one and I thought for back to school it would be okay but I agree with Jaybank… the paint will eventually chip off the aluminum bottles.… stainles steel is much better. I suggest if you want to prolong the life of it you do as it says and handwash them.

Hard to tell, but they look like Sigg bottles (which are lined aluminum). If so, that’s a fantastic price.

But they’re not. They’re knock-offs, probably from China.
You won’t see genuine SIGG bottles for less than about $15 — and that’s on sale.
Does anyone know how safe these water bottles are? There is a gold coloured coating inside the water bottle. I was wondering about the levels of toxicity before giving it to my kids.
As I understand it, the fear about aluminum got started from a study that found a higher concentration of aluminum in the brain tissue of alzheimer’s patients than in the general population. The cause of this higher aluminum concentration is not known. Something occurs in the disease process that causes aluminum present in the body to be concentrated in the brain tissue. Brain lesions characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease are quite different from those seen in aluminum toxicity. And no study has found a link to show that use of aluminum cookware etc. and Alzheimer’s disease.
No one really knows how toxic ANYTHING is to humans, they test out toxic substances on fish, when the fish start showing signs of poisoning, they mark that as the toxic level.

Just a thought. Aluminum water bottles require a “safe” special liner so they don’t leach toxins into the contents. Companies like Sigg and Laken can spend tens of millions of dollars on research for their liners. How much will a Chinese manufacturer that may only have sales of 10 million per year spend on the research? Is it worth risking your health by using these as water bottles?
I just bought the SIGG bottles and paid 25.00 ea. Then I read in the paper they are lined with a coating that contains PBA! Apparently, SIGG knew about this since 2006 and still continued to sell them under the guise of being ECO friendly and safe. I wonder what McDonalds is using as a liner? I am going out to buy stainless steel.
Sigg will replace your bottle if you have an old bottle with the old liner. just contact them on their website

Hello! These bottles are a nice idea… But are they safe? Aluminum water bottles have been known to leach harmful chemicals such as BPA… Even trustworthy brands such as SIGG have had cases of BPA in their liners before… So it’s probably in your best interests to go with a trusted brand like SIGGG, Klean Kanteen, or Camelbak for reusable water bottles.
