If you have any CIBC VISA card you can phone asking to have it canceled. CIBC has the best retention plan out there and you will be offered an amount of cash (which varies from case to case) as a compensation for your dissatisfaction, and the amount will be more than the annual fees!
The guys at CIBC are trying to satisfy their customers in any way, paying cash to the unsatisfied customers is impressive.

I was offered 2500 Aeroplan points by simply stating that I was not happy that new card owners are offered 15,000 points to join. Then I promptly asked that I be transferred to apply for a new “additional” card on the phone which I did apply. I have not seen the “additional card” being issued yet to get the 15,000 points bonus offer. However, I cancelled my existing CIBC AeroGold card later in the same day — July 12th.
Maybe I will get 17,500 Aeroplane points at the end of this effort or maybe not…
Now, I wished CIBC Visa offered me cash on July 12th when I was quite upset with the bonus offer of 15,000 points not being given to long time customer…
