Much of the excitement about Christmas has been diminished for me. I have been researching the labour sweatshop conditions of the people who make the gifts that we give Christmas day. We like to imagine that Santa makes these gifts with the help of happy little elfs. Nothing can be further from the truth.
Workers in third world countries make pennies an hour, and work in harsh conditions.
I think that the real meaning of Christmas is tugging at my conscience. Please take some time to learn about the ugliness that really exists when it comes to our so called global economy. Free trade must become Fair trade. Then the real Christmas message can live in the hearts of mankind.
