If you purchased a Vista Capable Dell system on or after October 26, 2006 you’ll be eligible to a free Microsoft Windows Vista upgrade when it comes out :-)

You can visit http://www.dellvistaupgrade.com beginning on November 13, 2006 to get your free Windows Vista upgrade.

If you have no idea what Windows Vista is checkout this wikipedia article on Vista

To borrow a page from the Peter Griffin playbook — “That really grinds my gears.”

I bought my Dell at the end of August — I bought it because it was promoted as “Windows Vista Capable.” If they’re going to offer free upgrades, shouldn’t it be to all Vista capable purchasers in the past little while?

Gahh — I’m chocked full of sour grapes this morning.

If anyone can tell me how much Dell will charge me for the upgrade, let me know. I’d still rather pay for this on November 13th than wait until January to buy it in store.

Futureshop is advertising the same. Not that i would want to buy a PC from there though…

jimmycanuck, they saying “beginning” November 13th but I don’t think all versions of Windows Vista will actually be available on November 13th… probably only the business edition. The personal editions aren’t coming out until January as far as I know.

Thanks for the info Joel :-)

Boo — According to wiki, volume liscenser’s (like Dell, Gateway, etc..) will begin selling Vista in November, while retailers won’t get it until January. Here’s to hoping that means I can get me my Vista Premium!
