Disney has an interesting offer going on right now that you can cash in on if you own VHS or DVD copies of Toy Story and Toy Story 2.  If you have either, or both, of these movies and want to upgrade to the new Blu Ray/DVD combo you can get coupons to save up to $20 ($10 for each movie).  All you have to do is enter the old UPC code on the Disney site and they will let you print off a coupon to save on the purchase.

And as an added bonus, as I mentioned in another post, the new Blu Ray/DVD combos packs have a code in them that will give you a free pass to see Toy Story 3 in theaters!  Savings all around.

Click here for more details on the Toy Story coupon offer or to enter your old UPCs.

Have you had any success with these coupons? Futureshop and London Drugs are on the list of participating retailers on Disney’s website, but neither would accept the coupon when I visited today.

Just a heads up.. another disappointment from Walmart… They wouldn’t accept these coupons from me! They would price match toys r us however who is having a buy one get one half off sale for the next 2 days. But either way it was a $15 off deal for me but I walked out empty handed because I was too mad. Had they said NO to the price match and YES to the coupons I would have bought them but I was outraged that they could refuse a coupon which disney would reimburse them for!
I know for a face that Toys R Us is sold out of Toy story 2 but Walmart didn’t even check that when they said they would price match. But I’ll just wait until they do have it in stock even though the sale will be over because I’ll be paying the same but giving my business to a company that hasn’t pissed me off yet. Meanwhile walmart pisses me off on a daily basis but they are like crack with their low prices usually so I’m addicted to say the least :(

I had success with price-match and coupons at Zellers. Total paid for both was $25.18 after taxes. I definitely prefer Zellers to Walmart.

Walmart is horrible. They refuse to take any coupons printed off your computer. I’m surprised they would price match a buy one get one 50% off deal. The Walmarts in my area don’t match anything that’s bogo a percentage off. They’ll only match if the sale is listed as a specific price. Even when I have coupons sent out by the manufacturers the cashiers there always have to check with a shift manager before taking them.

Toys R Us honored the upgrade coupons plus they have the get 1 and get the other half off until Thursday. Got it March 23 and good thing too as it seems they have less copies of Toy Story 2 than the first one (about half dozen at the location i went to at noon).

Got both for less than 31 dollars total. You can save more at Zellers if you use HBC points trade and save option. But I don’t have much.

For the coupons, make sure you use the UPC code for the Canadian versions/releases on the Disney movie rewards site to get the Canadian coupons. I have the Ultimate toybox package (combo of toy story 1 and 2) but the DMR site only gave me the coupon for the first Toy Story which did not make sense to me. So I hunted the UPC code for the Canadian dvd release (you can use VHS if you can find it) and entered it at the site to get the other coupon. The DMR site is bugged with regards to the Ultimate toybox.

I have used the same coupons at wal-mart several times for other movies. I have had no problem using them ever. I have these one printed out, just haven’t made it there to get them.

I can’t even get my VHS code to work on the website. Any tips out there?

I had a problem getting retailers to accept as well, Zelllers lady wouldn’t accept “handmade internet coupons” so I resorted to shoppers. It was on sale for $25 and I got to use the $10 off so $15 for toy story 2. Not the best, but when you factor in the movie ticket at $11, you’re getting the dvd’s for $4. not bad.

My Zellers took them, so #1 was 24.99-$10, then #2 was PM to TRU and was $14.99 — $10 so with taxes I paid close to $25 plus I’ll get the two movie passes so I’m happy…

They have two different packages for the movies: one in a bluray case and one in a dvd case, but apparently both have DVD and bluray. Zellers would only let me use the coupon on the bluray package (they only had toy story 1) because they went by the picture on the coupon. I called shoppers to inquire about the price and they were familiar with the coupon and only had the DVD pack for TS2 so I purchased the second one at Shoppers.
