Is this a joke? Scott Weiland For English Laundry Perfoming Live in Toronto The Bay Canada August 29th

Ok, so it’s not a joke that Scott Weiland is performing for free on August 29th at The Bay.  Whats a joke to me is that hes representing not only English Laundry but the fact that he hasn’t gotten the memo that smoking hasn’t been cool since the 90’s. It’s kind of all a trainwreck.  While I’m glad that Scotts off the heroin (?) I still would never have him represent my company.  What are your thoughts? Do you think his ciggy butt looks uber cool?  I’ve had this in my email all day and toyed with posting this or not haha.

I was hoping this was a joke!
My brows are so furrowed right now, I think Botox might be in order. Oi!

  2. missbobloblaw

I’m confuzzled to say the least! I wonder what the collection smells like :)

  3. Sally

I heard they have a slight “smoke and alcohol” smell to them :P

It bothers me that he needs to flick his ash. It kind of makes me wonder how long hes gonna let it burn before he does. Is he gonna try to let it all burn before flicking it?

Firstly: Who’s Scott Weiland? Secondly: It’s the Bay. Stocked with crappy merchandise and even worse salespeople. Where do they find them? Rejects from Dr. Phil?

  5. BCguy

That’s really great that Scott is doing a free show. Too bad it was not on the West Coasr to check out. The smoke looks great in the ad, not often enough you see that these days. Sadly certain individuals are pushing Hollywood to cut smoking scenes from film. Well… cigarette/cigar smoking is decreasing, but marijuana use in tv and film, contine to climb. LOL!!!

  6. Sally

Im just joking around with this whole post.

But “the ad looks great with the cigarette in his hand”

Made me laugh like a mad woman :P

  7. frank

    scott cool
    engilsh laundry cool
    whats the problem
i get to see a cool guy
    buy a cool shirt
get a life and stop complaining
    enjoy life while it last
    rock on

  8. kduever

No idea who Scott Weiland is.
English Laundry is way cool — bought two of their shirts for my hubby.
    Smoking — not cool.

  9. trucks12trucks

    lol its just a cigarette
i like the dude and STP rocks!

  10. Kookie

OMG! I know this is a joke. August 29th is when STP is having a concert at Air Canada Centre. I will be there, I can’t wait. STP rocks!!!

  11. Sally

They are having a free concert though thats real. I just never figured the Bay would go with a bad boy image.

  12. Sara

Scott Weiland is an amazingly talented man and I think the only thing thats a joke is this crappy written blog post.

  13. Sally

Sarajk, didn’t your mother ever teach you if you dont have something nice dont say it at all? This post is a lighthearted joke. I realize your bitter but dont bring your hate on here.

Your rudeness IS NOT becoming or needed.

  14. Sara

Then I guess you should’ve of asked what our thoughts were then if you couldn’t handle it.

  15. STONE

OMG Scott at the Bay?? What Scott Will Show up?? And why would Alan Cross be doing the interview? you would think MM would do it. Scott Rocks, looking forward to the 29th!

  16. trucks12trucks

to whoever going to the STP concert : HAVE FUN!! its going to be awesome :)

  17. mlongboat

Like the ad. I like the cigarette. Really, the guy was a heroin addicted ROCK STAR he’s not gonna shoot an ad thats sunshine and lollipops. I like Scott Weiland. I like STP and Velvet Revolver. I do think it’s a bit weird for the bay. I guess they’re expanding their target market?

  18. sue

I’m only offended by the grammer “live AND in person”

kinda hard to be one without the other :-)

  19. Sally

^ its opposed to live and not in person:P I was waiting for someone to comment on that haha!

  20. Cheers

@ Sue: grammAr. Lol!!! Sorry, couldn’t help myself, it’s just too ironic!

  21. shonnaboop

The Cig doesn’t bother me, it is EL campaign, they can do as they wish, I don’t find it offensive.
Great that he is preforming for free. He’s in town for the STP concert at the ACC on Sunday — nice to provide the freebee.

I’ll be at the concert — should be a good one.

  22. Deb

Ah well — I don’t know who Scott Weiland is or what English Laundry is so needless to say, don’t really care about either.

And if people want to kill themselves smoking, they should totally be free to do so, as long as they are willing to go to a user pay system when they get cancer :)

  23. Jennifer W

Scott Weiland is one of the best artists of all time. Love STP, love Velvet Revolver, and yes he may have had a drug problem, but for someone who had that many addictions and to still have had an amazing career with 2 fantastic bands, my hats off to him. He is a great talent and I hope to continue to hear many great things from him in the future.

And as far as Enigish Laundry goes I guess their campaign is working perfectly considering how many of us are talking about it on SC.

  24. Tina

This is a great ad! Get over yourselves people about the cigarette. Most of you are so ignorant you don’t even know who Scott Weiland is, where have you been under a mushroom???

  25. Stephanie

Not knowing who a person is doesn’t make someone ignorant.

  26. Selena

Thank-You for the post, Sally! I like this site (Genius!)
As for the add, I feel
the image of smoking is not a good one to send to those who are impressionable, but it is characteristic of Scott Weiland is.
I loved STP — Solo Scott is cool too (have only heard one song so far)

  27. Brenda

I don’t know who Scott is, let me say that first.

When it comes to cigarettes– in reality, they’re disgusting, but in art, I don’t know…they’re used to add that gritty, low-life kinda feel, and I think it works.

  28. FunkyMunky

    @ Sally — gotcha :)

but what’s with everyone’s attitude? I totally noticed how in the last few months the site and the review section got swarmed by rude b*tches! calm down peeps
