I bought this printer months ago when it was on sale for this same price at The Source (thanks to seeing posts about it on smartcanucks), and I’m so glad I did! This is a fantastic printer and such a cheap price. Before this one I had an Epson Stylus and this Canon model is so much better quality. It prints out photos (on photo paper) that look just like you would order from any store — that was the big test for me. And the ink isn’t too too expensive (cheaper than the Epson Stylus), which was another plus, and reason for buying this printer. I would absolutely recommend the Canon Pixma MP250 to anyone who’s looking for a new printer!

I ordered the pixma 240 all in one printer from Tiger Direct over a year ago,at only $19,but the shipping was about $10 so it more or less the same price. The pixma is still printing out coupons, and I can scan my pictures.A good deal

I own this very printer, i have a newer one which is wireless and use it now, but i tell u this printer prints better photos then my newer canon, its worth the $29 dollars i’d review it higher then 3.5 stars

ink cartridges are cheap at my local flea market $5

the newer one has more individual ink cartridges which were so expensive the flea market, so i had to order off ebay, ebay has great deals on ink $12.99 for all 6 cartridges compared to the flea market which wanted that price for 1.. this is the new printer i’m talking about the one listed here was worth the $5 at the flea market price

Does anyone know if you will be charged duty since it is being shipping from USA?

  5. Taly

I think the rules for shipping from USA are technically anything above $20 will be charged… sometimes things slip through.

  6. Sally

Hmmn I dont think its actually charged duty at all. Prices are in CDN dollar.

Will I be charged (import/brokerage/duty/tax) fees when UPS delivers my order?
No. Any and all fees, brokerage, import charges, duties, taxes, etc. that are due will be charged at checkout, you will not have to pay any more money in order to accept delivery of your purchase. What you see on the checkout page is what you’ll pay for your order.

    Sally:

Since this item is sold out I am unable to order… what you said in your post is that from their site? I know that one year I got a GPS from the states and it came to my house fine… I got the bill 6 weeks later for a lot of $$$!! So they may not charge it but UPS’ broker might charge you in the end!

  8. Sally

If UPS sends you a bill weeks later call and complain, that is not to happen. I think someone is running a UPS scam and its not actually a bill from ups.

What if the UPS driver says I owe something?
He/She should not say that, and if they do we ask you to let us know as soon as possible. I would recommend that you accept delivery and pay the charges (unless they are ridiculous); Immediately contact Newegg Customer Service to report the issue (as it is against our agreement with UPS), they will be able to issue you a credit based on your invoiced order (the credit goes back to the credit card/paypal account you originally paid with).
Alternatively, you can refuse shipment, in which case you will receive a full refund once it is returned to Newegg.

    Why UPS?
We understand that there have been complaints regarding UPS in the past, especially regarding shipments from the United States. We have a long-standing relationship with UPS, and we believe the system that we have arranged will bypass these issues.
We’ve worked with UPS to set up “harmonization codes” for every single item we sell; these allow them to easily identify the contents of every package to smooth delivery across the border. It also allows us to accurately calculate fees and import taxes in order to assess them on checkout, meaning customs will not add any charges when the product crosses from the U.S. to Canada (which historically were passed on to the recipient of the package upon delivery).

Okay maybe things have changed since two years ago.… the bill I got was not a scam (well in my mind it was!). It was from the company that is used by UPS to clear packages through CBSA. I did call and complain and the best they could do was tell me to go to a CBSA office and clear it there. I had to pay the tax but not the brokerage fee or duty. Major pain!!!

FedEx does that too. I know when I sell a Picnic Basket from my website to a Canadian customer, the bill comes to us and it is quite high!! There are lawsuits about this out there and that is maybe why UPS is changing their ways. I sure hope so. Charging it in one thing, but sending a bill 6 weeks later is extortion!

Sorry just read the rest of your post:

We’ve worked with UPS to set up “harmonization codes” for every single item we sell; these allow them to easily identify the contents of every package to smooth delivery across the border. It also allows us to accurately calculate fees and import taxes in order to assess them on checkout, meaning customs will not add any charges when the product crosses from the U.S. to Canada (which historically were passed on to the recipient of the package upon delivery).

So the charges are stil there but are pre-paid by the company, the same as we do for our customers. Still not great as they gouge you but better then getting the bill weeks later when you have forgotten all about it!

So I ordered the printer on Oct 31. Site took my credit card info, etc. I know they don’t ship on weekends so waited all week. Today log on to my account and shows no recent activity and my credit card wasn’t bill(thankfully)but I am disappointed that I wasn’t sent an email or something indicating I wouldn’t receive the printer. I really don’t like having my credit card info on any site especially if I am not kept up to date with situation.

Strange this post is totaly unrelated to what I was searching google for, but it was listed on the first page. I guess your doing something right if Google likes you enough to put you on the first page of a non related search. :)
