Personalized Shoppers Drug Mart Coupons – Do You Get Them?

sdm coupons

There have been several discussions on our forums about the personalized coupons that Optimum cardholders are receiving by email from Shoppers Drug Mart.

We want to try and figure out how people can get them, let us know which province you live in, your approximate monthly Shoppers Drug Mart spending and if you receive them or not.

If you do receive them, what coupons did they send you this week?

I’m in Manitoba. This is the first I’ve heard of these. I’ll have to check my emails from them more carefully.

  2. Jan says:

My last e-mail from them came on Friday…I think this is the third “we’ve selected special coupons for you” e-mail I’ve received. I’m in Saskatchewan and my coupons were 1,000 points WYS $5 on bar, hand or liquid soap, $3.99 for Purex laundry soap (this one I’ve had before), .50 off Christie cookies and $1.00 off Royale bathroom tissue. All of the coupons have the last 4 digits of my card printed on them. I think these coupons were selected based on my past shopping habits at SDM. I probably spend $50 – $75 month max.

  3. Ricky says:

Both my girlfriend and I get them every week – we both live in Toronto. We usually spend the bulk on her account ($50 or less per month) and maybe $10 on mine. Not sure if this makes a difference but we only signed up for a optimum points cards last summer (July maybe?)

  4. Agni says:

For me it started 4 weeks ago.I get it every Friday afternoon. I’m in Alberta, I shop at SDM twice a month, spend probably 150 $ a month. I get the coupons and discounts for the products I normally shop. This week is 2000 points when you spend 10 $ on paper towels and toilet paper 0.50 off on dempster’s ww bread, 2$off oatmelal crisp and 5$ off on Garnier BB cream!
2 weeks ago I got points coupon for a chocolate. And if it is $ off then it works for whatever quantity of that product you buy, but with the points it is applied just once.
I like those coupons very much.:)

  5. Debbie says:

I’m just getting their generic emails, no personalized offers. We probably spend at least $100 per month there. New Brunswick

  6. Kara says:

I am in Alberta and shop at Shoppers a couple times a month. I coupons I am getting are for things I usually buy – paper towels, tissues, candy, etc. They are usually pretty good.

  7. shantayl says:

I started getting them about 3 weeks ago, I get a new one every friday. I haven’t found that they are really geared to what I buy last week it was buy any card get one free.. i’ve never bought a card from there ever… they also have my last 4 digits printed on them

  8. Scarecrow says:

Im from Manitoba and I got mine. Last week I used 2 coupons, 1 for 2000 Opt Pts WUB $5 worth of Doritos and the other for $3.99 4L 2% milk(90 cents off). I got 3 more coupons in my email yesterday but none I would use.

  9. Bargain Seeker says:

I am from New Brunswick and I usually spend $250 per month on average at Shoppers.

I am not receiving any emails but I do receive some coupons in the mail once in a while.

  10. Pink says:

I get them every week – live in Calgary I usually spend ($50 or less per month)
Been getting them for the last 2 months.
    This week 2000 points when I spend $ 10.00
Free bag of Simply food kettle chips
$ 1.00 off of Maxwell house coffee
    Rimmel nail polish $ 1.99

  11. s87dew says:

I am from Newfoundland and spent approximately $300 per month.
I have been receiving the personalized emails for about a month. They seemed to start after I received an invite to the Shoppers Drug Mart Voice panel.

  12. Maria says:

I’m in Newfoundland and Labrador, and I’ve been getting them about a month now, and they seem to be designed to fit my previous shopping profile as they pattern from items I’ve previously purchased. But, they got me cause I’m going back to buy it again just for the points. So far it’s been Dorito chips, Royale toilet tissue and Pantene products. The poor cashier always seems confused by the coupons though.

  13. Maria says:

Forgot to add, I go there at least 3-4 times per month, and spend $100 to $150.

  14. sharp1 says:

I’m in Manitoba too. I think this might be the 3rd or 4th email I received. This week my offers are $1 off Maxwell House, Pay $2.79 for Dove bodywash or soap, 250 Optimum points when you buy Lady Speed Stick and 2000 OP if you spend $10 on toilet paper or paper towel. Pretty much stuff I buy at Shoppers regularly.

I used to go a lot more than I do now, but I’m probably there 2-3 times a month.

I’ve been getting the personalized coupons every Friday since end of January. They do appear to be partly based on my past purchases (sometimes hit and miss though), and I have found a use for several of the coupons. E.g., BOGO Lindt chocolate bars, BOGO toothpaste, etc.

What I buy most from SDM is skincare (Shiseido) and chocolate bars (Lindt/Nestle Noir). Once in a while I might pick up stuff like shampoo or deodorant because it’s convenient. For skincare I try to catch the 18500 bonus points events.

As for the coupons themselves… there are four each week. One is usually a bonus points coupon (spend $10-30 on a certain category of products and get 2k-3k bonus points). This week it’s spend $10 on oral hygiene, get 2000 bonus points.
The other 3 are product coupons, either $ off or BOGO. This week it’s $3 off Advil liqui-gels; $3 off Pantene conditioner; BOGO Maybelline mascara.
Nothing of interest to me this week.

    Oh and I’m from Ontario.

I spend at least $50 a week at Shoppers, and print out my personalized coupons that I receive weekly.I got the same coupon twice where I had to buy 2 packages of life brand kleenex,to receive 500 bonus pts, which I used both times.Another one I used, stipulated that I was to purchase any 2 ,simply food condiments.for 750 pts.Another one was spend 40 and get 3000 bonus pts.Plus cents off coupons for pet products, personal hygiene,milk(1.50 off}and chocolate bars.

Oh and I’m from Ontario. Shop downtown Toronto (on my way to work) but live north of Toronto.

  18. newbie says:

I’ve been getting the coupons. I got a great one a few weeks ago for 2000 points WUS $5 on Doritos, and Doritos were on sale for $1.88! score! this week is 2000 points for $10 on toilet paper or paper towels

  19. Michelle says:

I am in Winnipeg and only get them for my hubby’s account who NEVER shops there( I do all the shopping and use my card) and he got 2000 when u spend $10 on oral hygiene,500 bp when u buy Lay’s, $2.50 off oatmeal crisp and B1G1 free greeting cards.
I never get any ANY…and I am there 3-4 times a month and probably spend 150-200/month.

  20. Bun says:

I am in Alberta and I never get these personalized offer coupons. I spend around 100 a month at sdm. Also I have never received emails with the vib offers either. I have to check smart Canucks to get the bonus coupons.

  21. Mischa says:

Live in BC – spend about $200 per month and have been getting the coupons for about 1 month. They tend to have items I have previously purchased on them – several of them have repeated a couple times now.
I used to get Glow for free and have been longtime email subscriber. Also complete the phone surveys on receipts.

  22. Kary says:

I get these each week as well. This week was 1000 pts wus $5 on shampoos, BOGO cotton pads, BOGO greeting cards and $1.50 off Lady Speed Stick. These are NOT typical items that I buy, I never buy cotton pads or greeting cards from shoppers, and I’ve never bought Lady Speed Stick at Shopper’s (it’s usually way cheaper at Superstore on clearance :P).

I live in Toronto and I think it’s based on location… I don’t shop here very often and for the last month I haven’t shopped here at all.

I kind of feel bad because I’ve never taken advantage of these coupons. I kind of always assumed everyone gets them…

  23. Kristi says:

I’ve been getting the coupons each week for the past month or so now. I haven’t used any of them yet. This week, my coupons were:

    1) Pay $2.79 for any Dove Soap or Body Wash
    2) Save $1.50 on any Lady Speed Stick Deodorant
    3) Pay $2.99 for any Kraft Peanut butter
    4) Receive 1000 SDM points when you spend $5.00 or more on paper towels and toilet paper

I don’t shop a lot at Shoppers anymore, maybe 1-2x a month at most, and on average, it’s about $20 a month. I live in Alberta.

  24. luckbealady says:

I started receiving them 3 or 4 weeks ago – and have received them every Friday.

I spend less than $100 every month, usually between $50 and $75.

I do take part in the points promos and receive mail coupons.
I started redeeming points last year.

I also made sure to sign up for emails when they were offering that coupon with sign up last year (Even though I had already signed up for emails).

  25. diane says:

I lie in Ontario and do not receive them and may be important I have just started collecting points so maybe if you do not have a minimum points-you do not get bonuses? I only have 10.00 worth of points then I claim. Do not buy there as much of other members. Just to outline a possible scenario.

    • FallenPixels says:

Diane, my boyfriend probably only has about $10 points, I do the majority of the shopping and use my card, he only uses his to buy drinks etc if he is out and it is closer than a convenience store (or he is shopping with me and I sent him to a different checkout because I want more than 4 of a weekend sale item). He started getting them a few weeks back

  26. Josee says:

I never received these and I live in Quebec.

  27. Margaret Hirst says:

I’m in Ottawa and this is the second week of getting this type of coupons. Looks like they are based on past purchases. The cashiers that I had didn’t seem to know what to do with them, hadn’t seen any like them before.

  28. kate says:

I havent been shopping at SDM lately but I decided to go for the 20x points the other week, I then got an email this week for 1000 pts for $10 plus additional coupons as well, first time I have gotten these point emails in a while.

  29. nicole says:

I have been receiving these every Friday afternoon for a few months now. Some months I don’t spend anything at SDM, other months I spend $50-$100. For me it depends on 20x points events and the sales during those times. This week I received: 2000pts WUS $10 on any pain relief medication, Pay $2.79 WUB any Dove body wash or bar soap, $3 off any Pantene and $3.25 off Loreal Excellence.

  30. Mayellah says:

I’m in Quebec and never heard of them. I do know that they have a section on the website with coupons/promotions…. Nothing ever by e-mail.

  31. Ivona says:

Toronto – got them on the first two fridays – used them and then they stopped coming…

  32. Gazpache says:

My mother gets the emails, we both live in Winnipeg. She spends about $30 a month there. I never get the emails and I spend about $10.. I’d like to get them, it would be nice to be able to save money and earn points.

  33. Panache70 says:

    Nada in Quebec.
I used to get some 16,000 points when you spend 100$ but it has been a while.
I never get personalized product offers.

  34. Karly says:

Haven’t signed up yet… but it sure looks like I’ll have to!

  35. Lisa says:

I live in Ontario and I get an email from them each week. They are definitely tailored towards the things that I buy when I’m there, often the coupons are for things I’ve actually purchased there in the past couple of weeks.
I usually shop about once a month during one of the points promos, and then maybe the odd time if something is on a really great sale, but without it being a points event I probably shop there once a month on average and spend about $10 or so. In a typical month I probably spend maybe $60 there, probably less some months.
I’ve had an optimum card for many years but didn’t partake in as many points promos until the last few years.

  36. free*is*best says:

I received my first set of coupons email this week.
    4L jug 2%milk $3.99
$1.00 off royale bathroom tissue (12 roll and up)
    peanut butter $3.99

plus 10 X points when you spend $30.00.

  37. Sylvia says:

From BC, shop at SDM quite a bit but no coupons! I get the emails for all the weekend promotions on their flyers though!

  38. Leslie says:

Nope….not getting any personalized coupons on my card account. Been a member for years and spend about $100> each month. Anxious to hear how I can connect to get them….must be something to do with my profile info?

  39. Cheryl says:

I’ve been getting the emails for 3 weeks. This weeks are for 2000 pts on any Balea cleansing cloths, $.50 off Fishermens Friend, 400 pts on Scott paper towels, 2000 pts WUS $10 on batteries. One week I got 8000 pts WUS $40 on pain relief products (something I buy a lot of). My husband got coupons one week for Lays, oral care, Doritos – he hardly ever uses his card. Of the coupons I’ve gotten about half are for items I regularly buy there & the others are for things I never buy anywhere.

  40. Barcoll says:

I’m from northern Manitoba and get them every week. The only one I used last week was for the 2% milk @ $3.99 (instead of the sale price of $4.49). I spend under $5.00 a week normally.

  41. Avis says:

I live in London Ontario, and spend everytime there is a 20X’s day. I never get these offers, but my stepfather that also lives in london, who is a senior, but hardly spends gets them often.

  42. Maranda says:

I have received some of these coupons but they are rare. maybe 3 times in the last 5 years.

  43. CJ says:

    PEI, no coupons received. 🙁

  44. Lindsey says:

I got personalized coupons this week for milk and acid relievers. I used to shop at shoppers almost daily last year but have recently moved and now only shop there about once a month.

  45. Lindsey says:

Oh and I was living in Newfoundland but living in Alberta now

  46. Elizabeth says:

I only get mail coupons a few times a year and the website is always asking for my email address. I enter it every time but never get an e-mail coupons

  47. amanda says:

You need to register your optimum card and mashoppers you agree to the email terms and conditions and say you want emails from shoppers. I accidentally opted out and now I am having trouble getting them back… Ugh!!!

  48. Inez says:

hi. they stopped sending them to me two weeks ago. just wondering why???
