Remember the sound of a dial-up modem?

Remember the dial-up years? Slow frustrating Internet, busy signals, cheesy alien-like dialing sounds… I’m so glad dial-up’s history.

I hope BELL’s throttling doesn’t screw us up and send us back to stone age Internet with dial-up speeds (that’s almost what I get for torrent downloads nowdays).

Considering that Rogers has had throttling for a while, it seems kind of odd to just start complaining now, Boo. If it comes, it comes, but right now, with my Bell (technically, since I use an off-brand that uses their lines) it seems the same speed as before.

Until they both remove the throttling, the best thing to do? Find it streaming online, or better yet, though an FTP site. I’ve been doing this before I used Bittorrent, and with a download manager (I’m using DownThemAll since it can be added into Firefox) you can get download speeds that are faster then Bittorrent ever will be.

I’m with Bell and have yet to notice any throttling. *crosses fingers*

if you’re seeing modem speeds on B/T, then you’re about a thousand times faster than I get through Everus, so count your blessings and just run your torrents overnight.

unfortunately, dial up is still being used by a lot of people because of where they live!
