If you are a SCENE member, you can see the flick “The Hangover” for free on February 10, 2010 at 7pm. Just go to a participating Cineplex Entertainment theatre location with your SCENE card, present your SCENE card and get FREE tickets for you and a friend (max 2 tickets per member). Also, with your admission tickets, you will also receive FREE small popcorn, courtesy of Scotiabank. The first 100 members will also receive a FREE Scene bag full of goodies!

SCENE asked its members to vote on what their favourite movie to see would be last year, and “The Hangover” was the one chosen, that’s why it’s the movie that is being shown. This movie has been out of some time, but it’s really good and funny, I recommend it, plus it has the sexy Bradley Cooper in it, and who doesn’t love that? :)

For those in Quebec, SCENE members get a free viewing of “Star Trek” and two free popcorn instead. This event takes place on Wednesday, February 10 at 7PM as well. There is an error on the site and above the theatre listings it actually says “Star Trek” screening, but “Star Trek” is for Quebec only and everyone else gets “The Hangover”.

For all the information you need including participating theatre locations, click here.

EDIT: Bumping this to the top because it is TODAY!

I just have the points card, I wonder if that counts. Or if I have to actually have the credit card or debit card.

  2. Justine

spiffykerms — it’s the points card, that’s all I have too.

  3. twinmommy

I’m moving to Quebec — Star Trek was a way better movie!

  4. Rachel

My husband and I rented this movie thinking it would be really funny but it was so terrible.…..my advice is not to bother! Just my opinion…

  5. Tuktu60

Thanks — I loved the movie — its not an Academy award movie — but its a great way to spend a few hours having a laugh with friends. And its free!!
    Why not?? Thank you!

  6. Eric

So I’m guessing Cineplex is a West Coast thing. All we have here on the East Coast is Empire Theaters. Though what do you expect when they’re owned by Sobeys? Either way, I already saw this movie for free. Hurray for downloading!!

  7. Jonathan

    Eric.… :)

Same here regarding the downloading. Thank you torrent!

  8. Justine

ya I download movies too, nothing beats seeing a movie IN A THEATRE for free though. For those that don’t like the movie, you can suck it! Well not really but you know, different strokes for different folks, it’s not an academy-worthy movie that’s for sure, it’s just a comedy.

  9. Justine

Lily — I dont know why they would take points off your card, if anything they would add them on.

  10. tania

ummm.. really? this movie has been available on the internet (dvd copy) for months.. and actual dvd for a month.

They will make money out of this… but popcorn, drinks etc.

No thanks. I will sit at home, watch the same movies in the theatre, and be able to smoke!

  11. Lili

For me that’s fun to watch for another time!
Does anyone know when I can tickets? is it on the same day?

  12. Sallycat

The Hangover just won the Golden Globe award for best comedy motion picture!
I also saw this on the small screen but would love to see it for free in the theatre.

  13. Justine

Wow just read that it won best motion picture comedy at the golden globes, that is cool.

  14. nevs

Does anybody know how early I should go and where to “purchase” my tickets? Can I go way early during the day like 2 or 3 pm to get my tickets and the goodie bag !? I wonder…

  15. Miss_April

Why not go?? Its a free movie and a coupon for free popcorn and you may even get a goodie bag. seems better than free candles to me.

  16. jen

@Justine, I second your comment! This movie is hilarious. I ain’t rolling in dough but I can roll in for free with my scene card for pop corn and a goodies bag! (leaving very soon)

  17. Tiffany

Love this movie! I tried to go early today but they aren’t open until 5:45 so we will be there at 5:45 lol.

  18. leeda08

Heh heh I just got 4 tickets for my family with my mom
I called mine in advance and checked the hour it opens
Will be heading out after early dinner;)

  19. md99an

just got back from it and it was good funnier on teh big screen than it was when i rented it for some reason…the goodie bag consisted of a package o’ popcorn, computer mouse pad, 5 free song downloads (pre-picked songs), buy 1 get 1 free popcorn package coupon and a coupon for 3$ off a movie at the cinpeplex store…good times…

  20. Julie

Hubs and I arrived at 6:15 pm for the only showing (7:00 movie) at New,market Silver City. They had sold out of goodie bags…YESTERDAY!!! THAT ticked me off! One lady in front of us complained that she arrived at 1:00 today and they were sold out THEN! Something tells me the goodie bags went home with the employees. I might have to write Scene and complain. I AM grateful for the free movie and popcorn, but the goodie bag deal was totally unfair.

  21. honeydoo

The first 100 members will also receive a FREE Scene bag full of goodies!”

^guess you weren’t one of the first 100 members..complaining seems unwarranted.

  22. Robin

At our theatre they handed out the goodie bags at the theatre (screen) door, so it was the first 100 into the theatre not the first 100 to get tickets. I loved the movie. Very funny. Hubby and I bought enough treats to make up for the free tickets though!

  23. Justine

@Julie — you’re going to complain after they let you see a movie for free? c’mon.

  24. Tiffany

We had a blast! Too bad the theater only had one girl in the ticket booth and we were lined up around the building and it was cold, windy and rainy! We spent 30 min in line for tickets and 15 min in line for our free popcorn! But it was good and a great free date night! We got one goodie bag per scene card so it was nice to get one!

  25. leeda08

Just got back from the movie:)
2hrs of hilarious movie was good.
There were about 50 bags when I got there,
so my mom and I got one..
My dad was late by a minute and didn’t get it!
    Umm the popcorn was good!

  26. Julie

@honeydoo.…Yes, I am going to complain about hte goodie bags. They should not have been given out the day before. Fair is fair. Many others besides me were complaining.

@Justine…if you read my post (illiterate much?), I did say in my last sentence that I was grateful for the movie and popcorn.

  27. Justine

@Julie — are you calling me illiterate?

You were lucky that you were even let in, when you only arrived 45 minutes before the movie started. Maybe you should check the blog post where I said it was the first 100 people and you were clearly not one of the 100 arriving at the time. Maybe you should ebay for the goodie bag if it means that much to you, or trade with someone on the forum lol.

  28. freestuffforme

Darn, I missed it! I wish I had seen this blog post before now! Oh well, I saw it on DVD and I did enjoy it.

  29. Justine

freestuffforme — you can join the mailing list (to the right) and you will get notifications every time something new is posted on the blog I think. I posted about this on the blog in January and just bumped it for the day of the deal.

  30. Christina

    @Justine
The goodie bags were supposed to be handed out to the first 100 people IN LINE for the movie. They were not for the first 100 who picked up tickets. We watched as the goodie bags were handed out to those who were willing to stand in line 2 hours prior to the show, while I decided to walk around the mall and not worry about it. Good on them.

It is unfair that the bags were handed out early. Overall though, we had an awesome time and didn’t pay anything for it. No complaints here.

  31. jopava

Always someone has to complaint for something even free or paying for it!! get over with!!

  32. Suzy Q

We went last night, it was good.

I was really disappointed with some of the greedy people though. There were empty seats when the movie was supposed to be “sold out” because some people said they needed 2 tickets when they only needed 1. I guess that was the people with two bags of popcorn each.

  33. nevs

that is so sad about the greedy people! Although I LOVE popcorn, I can eat a large or more all to myself and would honestly use all 4 tickets and get myself 4 popcorns! Although I’d give the tickets out to people waiting in line. Anyways, I saw The Hangover when it was out in theatres, loved it, saw it for free because I worked at a Cineplex so didn’t really feel the need to see it for free — again. I called my former theatre the night before the movie (Scotiabank theatre, Toronto) to see if they knew what was in the goodie bags (that intrigued me the most about this whole deal). They said they didn’t know because they weren’t getting the goodie bags in till the morning of.
So, clearly not all theatres gave them out in advance, most gave them to the people in line. Maybe one theatre made a small mistake but oh well, 100 people got goodie bags and that’s great!

@Julie — I sincerely doubt that the goodie bags went home with the employees. a package of microwavable popcorn, a mouse-pad and 5 PRE-PICKED songs!? We get popcorn for free at Cineplex, and I don’t think employees would be stealing from customers over 5 pre-picked songs and a mousepad, and personally, I’m a little insulted you would write such an accusing thing.
