Shoppers Drug Mart Bonus Points Back Redemption November 26-27 Details

SDM Bonus Redemption Points Back Details

We have details for the upcoming redemption offer at Shoppers Drug Mart this weekend.  As rumoured, this one is a little different than the usual bonus redemptions.  You redeem your points for the regular amounts but for the top two tiers, you get points back when you redeem.

  • Redeem 95,000 points and get $40 (30,000 Optimum points) back
  • Redeem 50,000 points and get $20 (16,000 Optimum points) back

The great thing about these promotions is that Shoppers Drug Mart values their points on lower tiers.  So the 30,000 points you get when you redeem $170 are actually worth over $60 if you wait for another bonus redemption or over $50 at the regular highest redemption.

I haven’t seen the full flyer, but in the past, the bonus for points back redemptions has been added at a later date so you can’t use them for a second redemption the same weekend.

I was wondering how to redeem more than this. If I am redeeming around $600 do I have to make separate purchases or can I redeem 3 times on one purchase? I have never built up this much before so I don’t know how it works. EG: Can I get a game system and redeem this twice to get it free or will I only get to use it once and have to pay for the rest of the system? Sorry about all the questioning!

  2. Pat says:

Do you know if this will be the only mega redemption before Christmas?

    • FallenPixels says:

No idea, sorry. They have really changed things up this year so it is impossible to tell based on previous years

    • katie says:

most likely, yes. They usually only do around 2 a year now, once in November and once in the spring.

  3. Panache70 says:

Very dissapointing… waited forever for a redemption promo and the offer is “more points back”???

  4. TigersGal says:

okay I am a little confused. When you redeem do you get the $170 worth of stuff plus the $30 in points or the $210 worth of stuff and $30 in points

  5. Mike Rosenblum says:

Does anyone have any tips on good items to redeem for to add up to $170? Do they still sell electronics?

    • FallenPixels says:

They do have electronics (they vary greatly by store) but we haven’t seen the flyer yet to see what is on sale. I have a lot of makeup on my list while a friend will buy diapers and groceries. It depends on your needs/wants

    • jalynmac says:

They have lots of electronics. Tablets, TV’s, camera’s, game consoles not to mention peripherals and games.

    • Judy Blishen says:

I buy cologne and perfumes for Xmas stockings each year and purchase when they give out extra points for these items and point add up fast

  6. Jonathan says:

I have 131,764 points, so I’m going to redeem 95,000 points (plus earn the 30,000 points). I only ever redeem for standard household items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, tissue, papertowel, etc). Last time I redeem I have enough of those items they lasted me 2 full years! I’ll check the flyers and pick out the items I need, and hopefully find some additional point earning opportunities.

  7. Bill says:

If they cancel the points scheme in the new year, do we get to spend the points they give back to us next weekend – or just lose them?

    • Ronald says:

They will not be cancelling this program I already checked a months ago.

    • FallenPixels says:

The new rules state that once they give notice, which is 45 days, you have another 90 days to redeem your points. But honestly, I don’t think they will end it after going through the hassle of renewing the terms. But if they do, you will have until mid May to redeem at the earliest!

  8. Darlene says:

Does anyone know if you can buy gift cards with points? Ie $170 worth of gift cards for different stores?

  9. Jess says:

Does anyone know if this offer will apply to Beauty Boutique orders? Thanks!

  10. Danielle says:

What is the date for this?

    • FallenPixels says:

As shown in the title, November 26 and 27 🙂 There is now a flyer sneak peek on our forums to help you plan too

  11. V. Coleman says:

I have over 115,000 point. Would I be able to do a purchase of $170.00 (redeem 95000 points). Would I then be able to purchase $85.00 using the bonus 30,000 points I get from my $170.00 purchase? Or will it take a while to get the bonus points?

  12. Debbie says:

I don’t like the change. I save up all year and use the points for Christmas/stocking stuffers.

  13. Maureen nixon says:

Why have they changed it we use to get 200 dollars for 95000 points that’s why I save them all year

    • FallenPixels says:

They have done points back redemptions in the past. In this case, you get $210 (or $230 if you wait for another bonus redemption) instead of $200 so better for some. Just sucks for the big ticket items.

  14. Julie Wright says:

When will I see my $40 of points back on my shoppers account? I spent the 95000 at this event and am still waiting for the points back onto my card as of Dec 5?

  15. Pamela Whalen says:

anyone know how long it takes to get the points back we are owed… I liked it better when you got to spend them…this ridiculous.

  16. Jessica says:

anyone know around when in the Spring they have the Mega redemption weekend? like are we talking April or May? just to get an idea

I have a good 180$ worth of points I can finally use after collecting for most of my adult life (lol), in case I miss it

  17. Nick James says:

I am just a bit over 725,000 points and would like to use them for Christmas gifts so am I correct in assuming I will be able to get points back twice a day for two days over the redemption weekend on November 26 & 27th 2017? Is there any other critical restrictions I should be aware of?

    • FallenPixels says:

Nick, this post is from last year. While they often do follow the same promotion schedule, there is no confirmation that it is happening this year.
But if it follows the pattern, you can redeem twice, just not in the same transaction. As usual, redemptions exclude gift cards, any items with codeine, postage stamps, bus tickets etc

  18. Janet says:

So I can spend 170 today . And redeem my points 95000 and I really pay nothing and get 40 dollars in bonus points right

  19. JT says:

So I participated in this event, spent the 170 before taxes, paid the taxes, and my bonus points never arrived. when I emailed them this is what they said:

To qualify for the offer “$40 back in points for participating in the spend event on November 26th, 2017” you actually needed to spend $40.00 out of pocket. When we reviewed your receipt you redeemed $170.00 towards your purchase and actually only paid $18.91 on your debit card, therefore the offer was not valid.

Did anyone else get this message?
