Shoppers Drug Mart’s “Tell a Friend” Event is on again! on January 11, 12 and 13th, 2010. Spend $20 (before tax) and get 5000 points and then 5000 points for each referred friend that does the same, up to a maximum of 55,000 optimum points.
We set up groups on Smart Canucks, so you might want to wait and sign up that way, Cyanne heads it and it is very successful every year. Do not sign up on your own or else you won’t be able to take part in the Smart Canucks groups.
Official thread from Cyanne for signing up for the groups, FAQ and more information click here!!!.
OK – so I don’t have a optimum card yet and I was thinking that I would sign up on Jan. 2 when they have the bonus day but I would be willing to wait and do it for this. Let me know what I need to do.

Sweet! Just used all my points on a Wii fit! When or where will more info be posted once the group is made?
yey~
I am in!
amanda – check the forum, cyanne will post an official thread soon.
I have added the link to the forum thread in original post. please check that, all information, faq will be there.
Is it just me? I can’t get the link to work that is posted????
I really want to signup for this but what products do you have to buy? I know it’s only $20 and it’s no big deal, but if i’m going to spread the word i’d like to be able to tell them what they have to buy as well 🙂
Ok and what if i can’t find someone to buddy up with, is there anyone on here who doesn’t have a buddy?
Danimaksmom – all information from the groups organized by smart canucks are in that thread that I posted (I checked the link and it works).
Wow! I never thought I would turn my back on a 20Xpoints event so fast, but the “Tell a Friend” event gets you points at twice the rate.
I’m going to haul hubby (by the scruff of his neck if I have to!) in to SDM to get his own Optimum card. Then, by signing him up under me after I’ve signed on to a group that’s organized here, we’ll only be out of pocket $40 instead of the $50 it takes for the 20Xpoints event… and we’ll get more than twice the points. For major points collecting with a relatively small spend required, it doesn’t get better than this! :o)
ya i sign up my bf every year too. and his mom.
Justine – You have a new BF every year just for Optimum pts?….lol
wifegriz, if you sign up on the 2nd (or earlier), you can take advantage of both offers! That is, if you need $70 worth of Shoppers stuff($50 for this weekend, $20 for the 11th-13th). You’d score a total of almost 20,000 points including the points gained if you join the SmartCanucks refer a friend event! Sweet!

and i do not have any card shopers
please let me know thanks all
I’m so in!
Sent my email! Yay! I love this event! Great way to score points! 🙂
the_scarecrow – nope the same one. 😉
get even more points by signing up for their mastercard – i use it whenever i shop at sdm, then pay it when i get home so i don’t forget – i’ve already redeemed once since getting the credit card in october 🙂
I screwed up last opportunity, I want in… PMing Cheyenne as we speak!
Sorry, Cyanne, not Cheyenne!
Can somebody please give me the link to register and sign up for this? I can’t join the Cyanne SC groups because there was a problem last time (SDM didn’t credit me the points even though I shopped) but I would still like to recommend my own friends/family and join in on the referral promotion. I wasn’t sent an email by SDM, so if anyone could provide me a link or email me the link, it would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]
The hyperlinked in blue “here” in the blog post reveals this url:

Read through the link for how to link up with group members. Happy shopping!
Thank you everyone!! I already had several people sent me emails for this event. Much appreciated! 🙂
I have an idea. Why don’t we post our email addresses over here so we could invite more friends to the event? Since most of us seem to be going. All they need is a name (even just the first) and the email anyway.
Most ppl would not want their email address on an open forum.
