    Thanks
I haven’t heard about this and their website doesn’yt even mention it yet.

    What was your source?

  2. mememe

    LOL
you can get all the same stuff as Walmart at Zellers, they have come a LONG way. Great prices on toys and baby stuff.

  3. Alice

Zellers is a lot better than it used to be. If I have a choice I shop Zellers before Wal~mart. Real Canadian Superstore has been open 24 hours also.

  4. MissScrooge

FDF: The large 24 hour banner that hung over their store, lol! :P

It should be all locations but call your local Zellers to be sure :)

  5. chaquita

Yes! I just noticed the 24 hour banner on a few Zellers stores! I would go to Zellers before wal-mart any day!

  6. Megan

The Bay will be open 24 hours Dec 19–24 as well! Probably not all locations, but the one at Yorkdale mall in Toronto is, anyways.

  7. Megan

P.S. The 24 hour thing must be a Hudson’s Bay Company thing (they own Zellers too)

  8. John

I am lucky since I have a Zellers and a Bay in the same mega mall I do my shopping at. A lot of stores have extended hours (often till 11 pm) so there won’t be any excuses this year.

  9. Lis

Walmart sucks. They violate human rights, employee rights … and run small business out of cities and towns.

I don’t even shop at Wal-Mart at all — I shop at Zellers.

24hrs is a GOOD thing. Esp. this time of the year.

  10. mary

If we truely are smart canucks! wouldn’t be be suppporting our Canada companies, shopping local, and shopping at the Zellers or the bay? I just don’t get why someone would support walmart and not our own canada stores. Have a great xmas all

  11. AquaDragon

yup zellers and shoppers drug mart will be open 24 hours.hmmmmmmmmmm shopping without people peace and quiet :P

  12. Stephen

It’s good that you want to support Canadians, but if you are truly a “smart canuck”, you would know that Zellers (all of HBC, in fact) is majority owned by an American, Jerry Zucker. Sorry. It might feel better to honour a brand that was orginally Canadian, but the people inside WalMart are just as Canadian as those you want to support inside the Zellers.

  13. Alex

Zellers is American owned now. Walmart has always been American owned. They both bring in a lot of product from China. However Walmart has lead the way of encouraging (really forcing through economic blackmail) North American business to relocate to other lands. See the dvd “Is Walmart good for American”. The original Rubbermaid company was destroyed by Walmart because their resin price went up and every retailer agreed to the cost increase. Walmart did not. The result was Walmart started discontinuing their lines, cutting back their shelf space. Over 1000 jobs were lost in the American factory that made their products. The company name was sold off.
It is really not significant if a foreign company that just brings in lower quality slave labour products and encourages our good jobs to exodus, employs Canadians.
What is happening today is that consumers are becoming educated. They are seeing the big picture more and more.
Check out the many websites that expose Walmarts poor business record.
    I will post them soon.

    Merry Christmas too all!

  14. mememe

big surprise alex HAD to comment when someone mentioned walmart. haahaha.

  15. mememe

Should I perhaps not mention I’ve been to Walmart 3 times this week? lol

  16. michael

why are we so worried about shopping anyway…Zellers and Wal-Mart are laughing all the way to the bank…do you really think they are doing us a favor or being nice by staying open 24hrs…for the record, Zellers and Wal-Mart are both owned by USA controlled interests and there is no difference in the business practices of either company…they sell the same products made in the same factories in the same countries…instead of worrying about how to shop untill midnight on Christmas eve, why not stay up a kate with your kids and read stories or toast marshmellows…they will surely remember that more than the 25% off you will save on wrapping paper.
    Michael

  17. mememe

I don’t celebrate Christmas for the record … i was just referring to “regular” shopping. But anyways, I’m sure certain people appreciated the 24 hours very much.

  18. Alex

Warning to anyone who purchased Gift Cards.

The govenment of Ontario has been talking about retailers putting expired dates on gift cards. Retailers are already benefiting from 20% of the gift cards that are not cashed in. Looks like they have found away to still take advantage of the consumer. I purchased gift cards from my brothers and sisters kids who have moved to other parts of the province as in other years. This year paper certificates were replaced with plastic gift cards and a new administration fee (paid back in November when I purchased each of the $50.00 cards).
It has been discovered in the fine print from the CARD AGREEMENT — TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

    4. Use of the Card
    d. It is important that you track the Card balance. The monthly maintenance fee, described in Section 7.c of this Agreement, will reduce and can consume the entire balance.

    7. Fees and Charges
    c. Monthly Maintenance Fee
A nonrefundable monthly maintenance fee (plus any applicable taxes) will be charged in the amount stated on the Card back. This fee (plus any applicable taxes) will be automatically deducted each month from the Card balance commencing on the date or month stated on the Card back.

This is the last time I will ever buy any gift cards.
It is important that we truely become SmartCanucks and the only way we will do that is by becoming educated consumers.

May everyone have a safe and enriching Christmas with friends and family. That is truely what is important.
