Cineplex Entertainment Canada: SCENE Movie Reward Program

Cineplex Canada SCENE Points Card

Scene is a new rewards program by Cineplex (started on Jan 25, 2007). Unfortunately it is currently available in the Greater Toronto Area only. Hopefully cineplex will expand nationwide soon. This is an easy way of earning points for free movie tickets. Most of us buy Cineplex tickets anyhow, so we might as well get rewarded.

As a SCENE member, your night at the movies turns into a free ticket faster than you may think:

Cineplex Canada SCENE Points Card– Earn 250 points just for signing up
– Earn 100 points every time you buy a movie ticket at participating Cineplex Entertainment theatres, including Cineplex Odeon, Galaxy Cinemas, Famous Players, Coliseum, Colossus, SilverCity and Scotiabank Theatre Toronto (formerly the Paramount) (maximum 2 visits per day), up to 200 points a day if you stay for a double feature!
– Earn 120 points when you purchase movie tickets online with JUMP! at cineplex.com
– Earn 50 points for each child’s ticket (maximum 2 visits per day)

If you buy two tickets and swipe your Scene membership card, you’ll only be credited for 1 ticket (100pts).

    According to Scene customer service,
“you would only be able to earn the 100 points for your own ticket purchase, and not the ticket you purchase for your guest. If your friend would like to earn the 100 points also, he/she would need to have his/her own SCENE membership card.”

Even though this is what’s posted on Scene.ca
“Earn 100 points every time you buy a movie ticket at participating Cineplex Entertainment theatres”

To get around this, you’ll have to buy two tickets as two different transactions.

How many points does it take to receive a free movie pass?

Just wondering if it’s really worth it.

    1000 It’s a great program.

  4. Bobby says:

No, you need like 1026 points, it sucks

  5. Heather says:

If you bank through Scotiabank, you can also get a scene debit and credit cards – you earn scene points on all the transactions on these cards ANYWHERE, and they build up fast. Paying your bills? get scene points. buying groceries? get scene points. I think you get 1000 or 2000 points automatically when you sign up.

Plus, you get 10% off concesions with your scene card, and it doesn’t cost anything to sign up. Why not?

  6. S says:

how old do you have to be to get a scene card

  7. 2010 says:

    @S: You must be 16, I believe.

I do not personally think this is a good program. I have had it for over 2 yrs now, connected my debit account to the card and still only have 450 pts total. ( I buy A LOT of stuff on my debit). I have been nothing but disappointed by Scotiabanks customer service / how they get around by charging you fees for everything. For that reason I will definitely by switching to PC Financial who have no fees whatsoever!
