In my newsletter from Future Shop they have an ad stating that they are offering free shipping on orders over $20. This is great, I know they did $20 to beat out Amazon. Pls dont get lured into FS’s free shipping scheme….Lesson they taught me: Future shop online and Future shop store have nothing to do with each other. Never never buy anything online with them…they won’t listen to your problem or take returns if you bought an item online.
I once bought an air conditioner 5000 BTU….ordered a Danby, but the box said some other brand- no name of Danby seen any where. I called customer service n they insisted that I open it. They said sometimes it happens, you order Danby, but the box outside might be something else. You know, like you ask for Reebok, outside might say Nike but inside will be Reebok…like that….lol..it happens they said…I called up 3 different reps at different times of the day/night, but all of them gave me the same answer- open it, and if i’m not satisfied I could take it to canada post to ship it back or to any future shop outlet close to me.
anyways, I opened it (biggest mistake). It turned out to be some brand I hadn’t heard of. Took it to future shop store, n the lady at the returns desk refused to take it. Said I need to ship it back. Future shop doesn’t deal with what happens online. I tried explaining the whole situation to her but she just wouldn’t take the product back. To me, as a customer, future shop online n future shop store is the same. And if they make a mistake, why should i pay for it? I even asked to speak to the manager but they were not ready to help out. Finally after a lot of arguing back and forth the manager was called. After going through the same arguments with him I offered to buy anything from his store or another Air conditioner to adjust the price- as long as he takes back the old one and I get my money back. He agreed. Now i bought an 8000 BTU from him, he took back my 5000 BTU. I had to pay more money, but I have a decent brand air conditioner now, n which the store will accept anytime if i need to return or exchange for any reason. All this took 2.5 hours- I was on my feet, standing the whole time, 8 month pregnant 🙂

I find it hard to believe that you waited 2.5 hours. Makes me question the validity of your story.
I’ve returned stuff I’ve ordered online in-store several times with no problem. I just needed to bring the original credit card I used. No big.
I dont get your story though, I would of demanded a manager after 2 minutes of being given the runaround.

imagine this: u r explaining ur point over n again, n arguing with the person at returns n they r arguing their point back to u…then after a lot of arguments, the manager comes and you go through the same thing….then u strike a deal to replace the product finally. After tht u need someone to bring the item down (which they take forever to do)….n then they make u wait in line for doing an adjustment n finalizing the bill payment (for which again they need another manager to override the bill)…
I know what i went through…sorry if its hard for u to believe it!
sally…i did ask for the manager though…the girl at returns was rude n not just budging from her place…i had the same credit card tht i used, same receipt frm online billing..everything…only problem was the item on the receipt didn’t match the name inside…name on outside of box said Danby, receipt said Danby, inside was totally another brand….n FS wasn’t willing to take the product back….the returns girl n the manager wanted me to take the item back to post office n ship it back…for which they said i will get my money back when they receive the product n they process the return…i had a doubt how much will the person receiving the shipment believe me, if the person standing in front isnt willing to understand the situation…hence i didnt leave the store until they took it back…
Gosh I would of thrown a baby fit in-store lol!
I’m surprised you ran into tough customer service rep at futureshop. I’ve returned a few things there and had no problem every time. I’ve returned stuff I bought online in store, they only required the original receipt shipped with the product. I’ve also returned a camera where I spilled beer over and they gladly took that back as well! lol, we told them the camera was making weird noise and the guy believed us.
lol- to baby fit…my husband actually walked out leaving the a/c coz he was tired of their nonsense….lol…n I said, I’m not leaving smthg for which I paid with our hard earned money.. (spoke like a true smartcanuck)..lol…
my previous experiences haven’t been bad or difficult as this one…only after this one, I’m afraid to purchase anything online with them or anyone…hehe…
