Mark – last I check covering a song doesn’t make it a “rip-off.” It’s an old Tears for Fears song, but as far as most people are concerned the Gary Jules interpretation is far better than the original.

Yes, it was originally a Tears For Fears song from the album The Hurting released back in 1983. The Gary Jules version became popular from the movie Donnie Darko.
I recommend both the album and the movie.
