Michael’s Canada is having a special 20% off sale from 9am-7pm Saturday with printable coupon. There are the usual plethora of exclusions, but I think were all used to that by now. They also have the regular 40% off coupon and 50% off framing. Click here to print off your coupons. Great time to grab up some Valentines Day items.
Is it just me, or does Michael’s have a similar sale every other week, in addition to 40% off coupons? Sorry, but if you routinely print 40% off coupons, and regularly offer 20% off, would that not suggest that you are inflating your prices to the tune of 20 or 40%? In the immortal words of Mr. T: “I pity the fool…who pays the inflated regular price at Michael’s.”
Damn I’m going to Whistler tomorrow for some R&R, and no Michael’s there.
@Ruby, I find that for items I get, the prices are comparable to other store’s prices, or even online dealers, without me having to pay additional $$ for shipping & handling. So with the coupons and deals, I pay lower.
Again, I can only say that for items I buy at Michael’s (beads, jewelry making stuff), I can’t say the same for the other items they have in store.
Let me just say as a former employee of Michaels that they DEFINITELY inflate the prices by 40-50% for CERTAIN products. Super cheap supplies that are already like a few dollars are probably not inflated but I bought a pack of special drafting markers for a class of mine that after my employee discount and the 40% off coupon was a good deal. However, if I hadn’t had my employee discount, with just the 40% off coupon, I would have been paying the regular price point at which Staples sold the markers. Conclusion: I have proof Michaels marks up things by 40% at least on many products when compared to other retailers like Staples.
However, it is worth it to use a 20% off total purchase including sale items coupon for things that are on sale for 50% off. I got an Ott-Lite for $30 this way.
