Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. recalls Certain Top Load Washing Machines. This recall involves various models of Samsung manufactured Top Load washing machines. The affected products can be identified by the model, UPC and serial numbers located on a label on the back of the product, near the top or right hand side.
Hazard identified
Washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant items at certain settings may cause the machine to experience abnormal vibrations and the washing machine top may suddenly detach during the spin cycle, posing a risk of injury to consumers and property damage.
Approximately 256,000 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, between March 2011 and April 2016 between March 2011 and April 2016
What you should do
Samsung Electronics Canada is asking consumers to register with them to receive details of the remedy. The remedy includes a customer update kit, a free in-home repair and a one-year extension of the manufacturer’s warranty. Alternatively, owners can choose to receive a prorated rebate towards the purchase of a replacement Samsung washer.
Until an in-home repair is completed or the washer replaced, Samsung Electronics Canada is recommending that consumers with affected models only use the lower speed delicate cycle when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant materials.
