One of my co-authors over at fjetsam recently posted this video up at theBBPS, and I thought it was just too good to keep a secret.
If the internet has taught me anything, it’s that talent shows are a staple of Japanese TV. In this clip we see a man acting out a game of the arcade classic Breakout (think Arkanoid, only older) using only his mouth and marshmallows. Brilliant!
Wow. This makes deal of the year so far in my books. Any two Wii games, regularly priced at $59.99, for $40. That’s a savings of 80 dollars! This sale is on at Zellers this Saturday only, so get in early if you expect to come home with some decent titles.
Because we’re still so fresh out of launch, there’s not a lot of titles to pick from. You’ve got a few days to think about it before Saturday rolls around, why not take a peek at the complete list of released titles over at MetaCritic.com? MetaCritic compiles the scores of all majors reviews, so you’ll get a good idea of what might be worth your hard-earned money.
I’ll be waiting out in front when they open to grab me some Sonic and the Secret Rings and Excite Truck. This deal also applies to $59.99 GameCube games, though finding any at that price nowadays isn’t as easy as it sounds. Anybody else thinking of picking anything up?
Next Thursday, March 15th, plan on stopping by your local Starbucks between 10am and 12 noon. During that time, Starbucks will be holding is 2nd annual Coffee Break. All company-operated and licensed Starbucks stores in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Greater China will be giving away free Tall (12-ounce) cups of coffee to anyone who drops by. Starbucks Coffee Masters clad in black aprons will be present during each of the coffee breaks to kick off the company’s spring brewing sale and to answer any questions you might have about the coffee or coffee brewing. Last year, many stores used the coffee break period to sample some of their pastries out to customers waiting in line, as well.
For far too long Canadians have had their mobile numbers held captive by phone companies. Now you have the right to take your mobile number with you anywhere you want! Now that your number is good to go we want to make sure that everyone makes the most of their new-found freedom.
This means that you can switch to any cell phone provider in Canada and take along your number 🙂
Expect loads of crazy deals and offers from carriers to try stealing customers from each other.
Virgin started the competition today with this awesome deal only for new customers that switch their phone numbers over. Switchover and buy any of Virgin’s cellphones from their website or another retailer and activate it today (March 14) by giving them a call, and they will give you a credit for the cellphone’s price.
Jim Squires (JimmyCanuck) has a fabulous weekly “McDonald’s Mondays” post at fjetsam. He has kindly given me permission to post these McDonald’s Mondays here at SmartCanucks. Thanks Jim 🙂
All McDonald’s Mondays commentary and videos are by Jim Squires. You can read more of his wonderful posts at fjetsam.
What better way to kick off McDonald’s Mondays than with a little clip from behind the counter? This is definitive early Late Show from way back when Dave was a brand new face in the CBS roster. Someone got the bright idea to put Letterman right there in the drive thru window, and hilarity ensues.
I love Dave, but for those of you who didn’t grow up watching him back in the day, this is an example of when Dave was great. And on a more McDonald’s related note, weren’t those pastel uniforms just the worst??
These iPod Shuffle clones almost resemble the original ones. The 1GB iPod shuffle clone costs $19 USD including shipping. The 2GB iPod shuffle clone costs $30. If you can’t afford the original iPods or you’re looking for something cheap for the gym or what not this may be for you. Don’t expect this clone to be as durable or of the same quality as the original iPods. You get what you pay for but in the case of the original iPods you pay a huge sum of money just for the “iPod” name.
Safeway’s “We Care Coupon Book” is out and it has loads of awesome savings. The book costsc $3 but the coupons more than cover the price. You can also get it for free if you spend more than $30 at Safeway. Get one as soon as possible before they run out.
matrix82 posted on the forum about Dollarama selling $1 pregnancy testers!
I was in dollarama and they had pregnancy tests for $1…I am not so sure if I would necessarily take the advice of a $1 one…I am betting it might be pretty inaccurate but they had tons of them…and has to be the strangest thing I have ever seen there, as of yet. What are your thoughts?
$1 test kits sound fishy. I had a look around and found that in May 2005 health Canada sent out an advisory, advising consumers not to use New Choice pregnancy test:
Health Canada is advising consumers not to use New Choice pregnancy test because this product is not licensed for sale in Canada.
The product is used for the early detection of pregnancy by testing for the presence of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a urine sample.
The product, manufactured by IND Diagnostic Inc. of Delta, British Columbia and distributed by Sales Enterprises Inc. of Rockville, Maryland, has been available in Dollarama stores in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes.
