Bookcloseouts Canada has a new great sale going on.  They have reduced the prices of their Scratch and Dent books up to 85% off the list price.  These books are new but have slight imperfections so they couldn’t be sold at book stores like Chapters.  I’ve bought a few Scratch and Dent books before and they had a crease in the cover, nothing that makes them unreadable and great for personal use. 

They have some pretty good titles on sale too but quantities on these books tend to be fairly limited so if you see something you just have to have get it while it’s still there.  Check out their daily specials too, they’re usually pretty good and insanely cheap too.   Oh and don’t forget to link through the Smart Canucks cash back section to get 7.2% cash back on all your Bookcloseouts purchases!

Wow the Ontario Science Centre is inviting you to their 40th Birthday Celebration and this includes free admission to the Science Centre for everyone and their families on Saturday, September 26, 2009.   

 The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable David C. Onley, will kick off the event at 11:00am.  The day will be filled with tons of fun activities such as:

• ceremonial cake and 2000 birthday cupcakes will be distributed at 11:00am
• Family Food Game Show (inspired by the Family Feud game show!)
• North of SuperiorFilm showing (the first film created in 1971 with IMAX technology)
• 40th Anniversary Contest
• Sidewalk Art
• Eat Like It’s 1969 (selection of foods available for just 0.69!)

This is defenitely something to celebrate as Something to Celebrate!!!

This ‘Birthday Party’ celebrates 40 years of igniting curiosity in science and technology. As one of the first interactive science museums in the world, the Ontario Science Centre has been an inspiration and model for science centres that have been created since its inception. The Ontario Science Centre opened on Sept. 26, 1969, within a few months of San Francisco’s Exploratorium, the first of a new breed of science museums that actively engage visitors with hands-on, interactive experiences. This became the template for hundreds of science centres to follow. Well over 40 million visitors have passed through our doors since then.

 The Science Center is open from 10am to 5pm and the regular admission cost is $18.00 for adults and $11-13.50 for children so you can save a bundle by going on their anniversary date plus you get the bonus of free cake!
