Today’s main deal is an Iomega 320GB 7200RPM USB 2.0 External Hard Drive – Silver Series for $149 plus $20 mail-in rebate, i.e. $129 (regular price $249). This is one sizzling hot deal for that price. This External hard drive is just plug and play: you can easily plug it into your computer’s USB port. You can also carry it around wherever you go (although it is not very small in size of course). It also runs on Macs and PCs.
Update: try it, it might not be sold out
A bunch of other good computer accessories today. If you need anything in particular from this accessory list that’s a good time to buy it.
– Targus CityGear Chicago Backpack and USB Numeric Keypad – Dell-Exclusive Bundle – $39
– Sanyo 5.8-GHz Digital Multi-Handset/Cordless Telephone with CID and Two Handsets – $69
– IOGear USB Optical Calling Mouse (built-in microphone) – $19
– StarTech 4 Port USB 2.0 Mini Hub – $14
– Master Lock Universal Notebook Security Cable – $35
One of these accessories really caught my attention: the IOGear USB Optical Calling Mouse with built-in microphone! Why the hell do they have a mouse with a microphone? Imagine holding a mouse in your hand and speaking into it!

Yeah it just looks bizarre!
Note that shipping is free.

Today DELL is selling its new 2007 20†and 24†widescreen monitors for relatively good prices.
Today’s main deal is the Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP 20″ Widescreen LCD w/Height Adjustable Stand for $399 (regular price $599) and the second deal is the Dell UltraSharp 2407FPW 24″ Widescreen LCD w/Height Adjustable Stand for $769 (regular price $769).
Although $399 is a wonderful price for a 20†widescreen I strongly recommend you keep away from these two widescreen monitors unless you’re using them for some professional task that requires very high resolutions.
The reasons for my discouragement:
1) This 20″ monitor isn’t a true widescreen nor is it a normal screen! it’s just slightly wider than a normal monitor. This can cause Microsoft Windows to look weird or stretched unless you run it at a high resolution (of 1600 x 1200) in which case everything will be too small to read.
2) If you try running this monitor at lower resolutions (which is what most of us prefer) the picture will not look sharp which defys the whole purpose of this monitor.
3) Compared to a 19†this monitor is just slightly taller and about 1†wider. So yes it is larger but it is not large enough to justify the $100 more you’ll spend on it.
So in a nutshell the price is good but unless you’re willing to run your monitor on high resolution and/or spend some time tweaking it don’t bother with today’s main deal.
As for the 24″ monitor, it has a few problems as well. You can find out more about these problems here.
Some of Dell’s other deals today include:
– D-Link DGS-1005D 5-Port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch – $29
– NEC MultiSync LCD3210 31.5″ LCD Display – $1799
– Metallic Blue Graphire4 6×8 Pen Graphics Tablet – $149
– 48W 6-Cell Seconday Battery (D-Series) – $99
Note that shipping is free.

At last Dell is offering a bunch of good deals today 🙂
Today’s main deal is the Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router. This router is on sale for $49 (regular price $99).
If you have several computers at home you can easily setup a wireless home network using this router such that all your computers can simultaneously connect to the internet. Linksys is a well known networking company that develops high quality wireless routers. The Linksys WRT54GL has a very good reputation for its reliable performance and ease of use. If you don’t have a wireless network at home and have several computers (e.g. a desktop and a laptop) I strongly recommend this device.
Note for geeks: “The WRT54G is famous for being the first consumer-level network device that had its firmware source code released to satisfy the obligations of the GNU GPL. This allows programming enthusiasts to modify the firmware to change or add functionality to the device.” More details about reprogramming the WRT54G here.
Some of today’s other deals are very good as well:
– TrendNET Wireless G Advanced Pan & Tilt Camera – $149
– Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 w/Microphone – $29
– D-Link PersonalAir DBT-122 – Bluetooth Network adapter – $24
– Belkin SurgeMaster Gold 9-Outlet Surge Protector with 10 Feet Cord – $19
– MS Student 2006 w/ Encarta Premium and Learning Essentials (DVD Version) – $49
Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 w/Microphone is an awesome headset and although $29 isn’t as low as I would’ve hoped, it’s still pretty good. If you use msn Messenger, Skype or other messaging programs to voice chat with your family and friends you’ll find that this Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 will totally improve your whole voice conversation experience. The other party will hear you much better without an echo and you’ll hear them very clearly too. If you still use a separate microphone and speakers during your voice conversation I strongly recommend you buy this headset.
Encarta is too over priced. It hasn’t significantly improved over the past couple of years. I’d just stick to any old Encarta version and use it in conjunction with Wikipedia which is updated more frequently although is not as reliable as Britannica and Encarta.
Note that shipping is free.

According to wikipedia:
A Slingbox is a TV streaming device that enables consumers to remotely view their cable, satellite, or personal video recorder (PVR) programming from an Internet-enabled computer with a broadband Internet connection.
This price is very good for the Slingbox. The Slingbox is a device that we can certainly live without, but if you’re interested in it now is the time to buy it.

– Dell 1110 Laser Printer – $79
