Hello fellow Smart Canucks!
Well this was another great idea from Boo! As I am sure some of you already know from previous posts I have made, I work for Rogers retail. I actually began selling Rogers about 11 years ago while working for Radio Shack which is an affiliate of Rogers. Then about 5 years ago when I decided to return to university I switched from the Radio Shack to the Rogers side of the company (the parent company of RS owned 800+ Rogers stores as well) and I have been dealing exclusively with Rogers products and services ever since.
The purpose of this ‘ask me anything’ thread is provide you with a place where you can ask me anything you may want to know about Rogers. Feel free to ask me anything pertaining to Rogers, and I will give you an answer. If by chance your question is something I don’t know the answer to, I will do my best to find an accurate answer for you within a couple of days.
Also, from time to time we hear about deals customers receive which are not offered unless you specifically call in, and I will post these here whenever I come across one

Last Dell Canada days of deals had some excellent bargains. I bought the 22″ Dell Monitor on the last days of deals for $299.99. I’m looking forward to this round of deals 🙂
Make sure you check the website early. Hot deals can become of stock in a couple of hours.

A commercial for a not-as-healthy-as-you-think meal. If this location looks familiar, you’re right! This commercial was shot at the Grant Park Shopping Centre location in Winnipeg, Manitoba, although the patio is actually a parking lot and those are fake pine trees.
McDonad’s Monday idea by Jim SquiresÂ

Today’s deal is the Konica Minolta Magicolor Network Colour Laser Printer (5430DL) – Refurbished for $499.99 $199.99.
Another useless deal. I don’t know why I’m even bothering checking Future Shop’s days of deals anymore.

Today’s Future Shop deal is the Logitech Laser Cordless Notebook Mouse (V400) for $69.99 $19.99.
This is a horrible deal. Future Shop better start offering better deals. They are tricking no one by selling old and slow moving stock.

Seems like some people managed to price match Zellers 2 Wii games for $40.
“Happy” left a comment on Jim’s post saying:
Although Zellers won’t honor their mistake, PMing works. PMed Best Buy for $16/game.

I’m not sure how good this sale is. We’ll have to wait and see 🙂

Today’s deal is the Kingston 1GB Secure Digital Card for $49.99 $14.99.
You can buy 1GB SD cards for $14.99 at many stores now so this deal isn’t that great. This SD card is well known for its high quality and is reliable enough for use in digital cameras and data critical devices. I wish the sale price was slightly lower.

Thanks Leslie for pointing this out:
I just found out that this is an error after going to two stores to stock up for the price adjustment- they already have the little signs in the stores with the correction notice. It’s lame: the correction notice says that the sale is actually just for Zelda $40 for Wii and Gamecube- I dont know how they could make such a big mistake (trying to suck people into the store?)
It’s unfortunate that this is a pricing error 🙁 HBC headquarters sent out letters to all Zellers stores notifying them of the pricing error so don’t even bother trying.
Our only hope of getting this deal is through price matching 😉 Wake up nice and early on Saturday, grab a copy of Zellers flyer, go to Future Shop and ask them to price match the Zellers’ offer. If it doesn’t work (because they phone Zellers) go to Best Buy, and so on. This may or may not work and the ethics behind doing this is questionable.
At all Canadian Zellers stores:
– Playstation 2 Slim Hardware: 100$ (reg. 130$ ea.)
– Playstation 2 Greatest Hits Games: 20$ (reg. 30$ ea.)
– PSP Greatest Hits Games: 20$ (reg. 25$ ea.)
– Gameboy Advance Player’s Choice Games: 20$ (reg. 25$ ea.)
– Nintendo Wii and GameCube Games: 2/40$ (reg. 59.97$ ea.)

Since this is a promotion offered by Junior Achievement of Canada I think it’s a good opportunity to introduce their program:
We are a growing number of volunteers, educators, parents, and contributors who reach out to 7 million students each year, in grades K-12. Together, we believe there’s a lot that’s right with today’s kids. Kids crave opportunity. Kids want to be successful. And kids dream big about the future. Really big. We like that.
