Tim Horton’s has just made it a bit harder to keep our New Year’s resolutions. You can now get any donut for only $0.49 with any beverage purchase. It’s a great deal that a lot of us won’t be able to pass up. Yummy deliciousness for only 49 cents! And if you don’t know what donut to choose, some Tim Horton’s now have a donut wheel that you can spin to pick your type. It’s like a game show with a great (now cheaper) reward at the end!
The fine print says this deal is only available for a limited time so make sure to take advantage before it’s too late.
Thanks to couponlady for posting this delicious deal!
I saw both the 49 cent sale signs, and the “Spin wheel” at my local Tim Hortons this morning here in Saint John, NB. The wheel is cardboard and around the size of a vinyl record.
I thought it was a fun idea.. but no one spun the wheel while I was in line 🙂
It’s too bad that there aren’t more deals on healthy foods for those of us who avoid high calorie foods in order to stay in shape. I don’t eat donuts or fast-food and these always seem to be the cheapest types of food. It would be nice to see fruit cups or freshly blended juices on sale for a change!
Why is it that when everyone tries to go on a diet in January, these high calorie foods go on sale for this kind of price?
IMO, this is bad marketing on Tim Horton’s part. They should be promoting a healthier product at a discounted price (the price doesn’t have to be 49 cents).
Yummy.
Vivi, I agree… it’d be cool if Tim Hortons had healthy granola bars (not ones loaded w/ oil or processed sugar) or something similar to offer. It’s not like healthy stuff is difficult to put together. They could certainly do it… maybe the demand just isn’t there?
I agree; it seems junk food is always on sale, but healthy stuff is almost always the most expensive thing on the menu. My fave thing at TH’s is the chicken snack wrap with no sauce at all – yum!
Wow! 49 cents that’s awesome! I bought a donut for my boys last weekend and I was surprised to find that they had climbed to 90 cents! I didn’t realize the prices had gone up so high! And I thought my sister had it bad with paying $1.50 in Australia for a donut! Anyway, donuts like any food are fine in moderation. I’m follwing weight watchers and I like to save a few extra points for the odd timbit or 1/2 donut once in awhile.
It’s not surprising that they tempt you with cheap donuts right after New Year’s; they probably see a drastic slump in donut sales.
Twinmommy – What a deal your sister had in Australia! I was there in November 2009 and donuts were $2.70 each. And their sweet deal was 2 donuts and a coffee for a mere $7.50. I was in Gold Coast, Queensland – and the donuts were Krispy Kreme donuts. Needless to say, this cheapo Canuck did not even taste the donuts. Australia is sooooo very expensive – seriously!!
Now my rant about Tim Horton’s donuts – Always fresh? NOT. I used to love their donuts, but now that they use the frozen dough, the quality is really not comparable to what it was before the frozen dough use. That is not to say I dont get suckered into buying them donuts AND eating them too. I can still stand the cake donuts…..
Really, I think all they’re trying to do here is compete with the small coffee/muffin deal they have at McDonald’s for $1.39 (in
Canada, anyway). I opt for the low-fat cranberry orange muffin with my coffee so a cheaper donut at Timmy’s still won’t cut it. And the coffee’s better at McD’s anyway…. if you don’t believe me, try it, just once… 🙂
That is the real worth of a Timmys Donut I feel since they are so small! I remember back in the day they were about the size of a bagel. Now they are smaller than your palm.
deal ends Jan 24
FYI, low fat does not necessarily equal healthier option, about the same, or more calories, than some of the donuts, more sodium and more carbohydrates.
I love how they’re trying to counteract the dieting frenzie of the new year, side by side with all the Jenny Craig and fitness depot ads!
tims should pay us 0.49 cents for eating that doughnut
This is my common blog, all of the posts are incredibly well written and i can see lots of idea goes in to them. Hold it up!
It is common knowledge, thanks to current events shows like “Today Tonight” that Australians pay more for food than any other western nation. They even pay more for their own products than New Zealanders do for imported Aussie foods – Vegemite for instance. Coffee in Australia largely amounts to measly cups of cappuccino at $4 or more a pop. Donuts can cost up to $4 each!! As can cupcakes and other pastries in cafes and fastfood joints. The best prices for fast food in Australia are through the American chains, where for instance a Subway sub can still be had for $7 or so, but the bottle of soda to accompany will ding you for $3 or $4.
As a Canadian living in Australia, I miss buying a large coffee for $1.50 in a takeaway cup that fits my car’s cupholder. I also miss Tim’s sandwich combos. So, it is not only cheap sugary treats that are absent in Australia, but the entire Tim’s selection range at reasonable prices.
It is always the first place I hit when I travel home!
Robin’s Donuts is so much better than Tim Horton’s, it isn’t even funny! Loads of delicious donut types you never see at Tim’s. The Donuts are much larger and they are baked on site. As well – in my opinion – their coffee is better. Best of all, you don’t have to wait in line for a half-hour.
I frequented Robin’s in Regina all the time, but in Calgary I have never seen one. 🙁
hm might try it out sometime ty
