It is a great deal in theory; if you play World of Warcraft, the Burning Crusade Expansion has been out for the last year and a half. This year, the newest expansion, Cataclysm, is set to hit stores. So those out there who already have World of Warcraft, and the Burning Crusade expansion, this deal is moot. For those that don’t, it is a great deal ! But be warned, to access the newest content when the newest expansion hits stores this year, be prepared to shell out another $50–80 .

Don’t do it! Aside from the fact that you need to buy another expansion (Wrath of the Lich King) pack to play with the rest of the world, the game is highly addictive and a huge time sink. If you value your life or that of your friends/loved ones, do not make this purchase for anyone. I quit the game cold turkey a couple of years ago and have been grateful.

No, you don’t need to buy another expansion pack. You can play off the original WoW until level 60 and then level 70 (or is it 80?) with the expansion pack that comes with this free.

Definitely picking this up because I’ve had friends who asked me to try this game again (I played the trial version.)

    Thanks Maybe!

Amazon.ca service is very poor, and shipping is slow. I preordered a game from them, to receive special content, it was never included, and item was delivered almost 2 weeks after it was on store shelves.

Spend your money in local business/community, DON’T BUY FROM AMAZON.CA

I’ve actually had no complaints with Amazon for purchases, save for certain pre-orders that don’t follow through.

But back to WoW, this really is a social game where you will be questing with others. Yes, you can enjoy the game without the latest expansion, but it’s really inevitable whether you buy it now or later on. It’s not just the level cap raise but another part of the world’s content you’ll be missing out on.

Don’t forget about the monthly fees ~$15 that’s part of this “deal”.

Very good point, awesome website. Hey, did you guys hear about Blizz looking to implement Real ID on their forum? Guess they realized that that is no way to win at wow, since they reversed their decision. Now we can all go back to playing WoW without worrying about compromised privacy. And they can return to focusing on Cataclysm. WooT!!!
