Lululemon Canada Warehouse Sales in Calgary

From lululover:

It’s that time of year again! The lululemon Warehouse Sale dates have been announced and it wouldn’t surprise me if there were people waiting in line already. Alright, maybe it would…

The first official lululemon Warehouse Sale of 2008 is going down in Calgary at the Big Four Building. The event starts on Thursday January 24th at 9am and runs until Sunday the 27th.

Hours:
Thursday January 24th 9am-9pm
Friday January 25th 9am-9pm
Saturday January 26th 9am-9pm
Sunday January 27th 10am-6pm

What kind of deals/specials are there at these warehouse sales? Anything like 50% off? Or are they just marginal, like 10% off their $98 Groove yoga pants? I’m just not sure if I should call in sick to work that day to line up at 7am.

  2. Jamie says:

I went to the one in Edmonton a couple of years ago. I lined up for 5 hours in the cold 🙁 I would say about 25% off most items. Lots of old stock. I got maybe one or two items that were worth it. Very similar to Lulu boxing day sale.

  3. Jen says:

Based on what I’ve seen (based on past events), the warehouse sale is a waist of time especially if you’re hoping for big savings. Rumour has it that the last day is the best to go (due to more price slashing). Apparently, it’s all older stock and colours that are that pleasing! Not much in the way of savings and the lineups are really, really long! Might as well just pay full price for items that you really want.

  4. Sue says:

Thank you SOOOoooo much for the comments. Was contemplating going to check it out. But 25-30% isn’t really worth it.

  5. Tina says:

I went to the sale this morning in Calgary, 6am in line, waited 3 hours till they opened at 9am. By 8:30am, there was probably 1000 people behind me in line and growing. Pants were $49 from $89.I bought $430 / 10 items in total, saved $ 225 from original prices. Not the best sale I have attended. Would not do it again for Lulu, sorry. (The employees were really nice though). I shopped for a quick 20 minutes as the music was blasting and knew that there would be lines at the cashiers. I got out of there and then waited 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot. A lot of time committed for minimal savings.

We went tonight, Jan 24th – waited for 1 hr 20 mins in a lineup. A bit chilly, but was well worth the nippy wait. Scored some awesome pieces – disappointed there was not any capri sweats to pick from. It was a ton of fun and would certainly recommend lulu lovers to check it out.

  7. Princess says:

Went last night- waited almost 1 hour in line- and really it is minimal savings off the good stuff – like pants- and my fav tops, when I consider the time I spent waiting and then in line up to pay, it wasn’t worth it (if I consider what my job pays me per hour). I found some pieces but I could have easily paid a bit more at lulu store and not wait in line, check my coat & purse into a garbage bag at the door (which I was not expecting), etc..

  8. Sunkistbaby says:

WTF??? I seriously cannot stand it when I have to part ways with my personal stuff like my purse when I shop, its absolutely ridiculous. Ya went to the stampede around 1pm 24th, they said it was like 5 hours to wait in line…sorry I have better things to do with my time. Its nce to get a good sale, but I will just stick with not purchasing their stuff at all anymore, as usual outrageous.

  9. Not worth it says:

I went last night to meet up with my hubby who was in line since 4:30… the line up was quick and we got in at 6pm though I was frozen by that time.
I was disappointed when we got in. No pants in size 10. No hoodies left… No jackets even. No mens large sweat pants in size large. Clothes everywhere! Plus the changing rooms -well you’re changing with everyone!
I’ve contemplated getting up at 5 tomorrow morning and going again but the momentum is just getting bigger as word grows. I love me some Lulu but I’m just going to go to the store to get what I want.
I did end up buying 3 items for around $100. A deal yes, but to stand in line for a few hours… not worth it.

  10. Bacon Lover says:

Thanks guys i wasnt sure what to expect!! Now I can just go eat bacon and be jolly in my non butt clinging pants!!!

  11. Bottom Line says:

I suggest people check out the sale for themselves. Sure, it took a while to get inside but its not like I had 10 heart surgery patients waiting on hold for me to get new pants. GREAT BUYING EXPERIENCE all things considered. Getting a good deal on nice items from a canadian based company with great staff and people doing their best to help you… isn’t a waste of time. Posting messages on the internet is….

  12. Bacon Lover says:

ha ha you just did!! ya @sshole

  13. Rae says:

I went yesterday(Friday) after work. Took me 45 minutes to get in. I got 2 pants and 3 tops for 160. The change room was scary, but I thought it was worth it.

  14. D says:

I think having to leave your purse with strangers isn’t right, especially with so many other strangers around. I wante to go but have to bring my two kids, do they allow strollers inside?

  15. Left Pleased says:

Went last night to check out the sale…all things considered I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived around 5:30 and were in and shopping by 6:00. Sure the change rooms were different, but no different than changing in a change room at a fitness center. Overall, many items were marked down considerably and the staff was friendly and helpful…a bonus considering they madness with all the people and the fact that they had probably been working HOURS! Go check it out…

  16. Left Pleased says:

Yes, strollers are allowed inside 🙂

  17. J says:

I went on Thursday, at 6pm, there was not traffic getting in or out of the big four at that time, wait line was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Very little size 2, no size 2 pants! Only 3 or 4 types of 4 tall pants, mostly skinny pants. Lots of body suits, skirts, shorts and tops. The prices aren’t a HUGE savings but Its a one time thing in calgary so might as well check it out. If your a size 6 and up there is TONS!!! no hoodies (that i saw) or nice bags or yoga mats or antyhing. Its a cold wait but I came out with 3x4tall pants, 2x sixe 2 pants for my sister and a pair of capris. spent $360. But there not pants I would EVER pay the $100 for, everything there is an obvious reject just with the lululemon name on it.

  18. Me2 says:

If your looking for anysizes biger than 10 (and even those) your picks are not too good. Mst stuff was at most $10 off. You really had to search hard for any really big deals. The staff is great though.

  19. Irena says:

I spent a hour looking at clothing racks. When it was time to try on the clothing, I was shocked that it was a huge open space for the fitting rooms. Let’s just say I left without trying on anything. I rather just spent the extra twenty dollars at the regular store buying the stuff i want. I don’t care to get naked in front of strangers. This was a waste of an hour.

  20. Chantelle says:

I went this morning being Saturday and i was lined up a 7:00 am got in at 9:00 i was very happy with everything. I bought 4 pairs of pants a hoodie, sport bras and a few pairs of shorts and tanks and only spent about 400 dollars so yes i would say go check it out everyone was very nice and they even handed out free hats to keep warm this morning and hey that saved me 32 dollars but ya the changes rooms were something else but who cares we are all women

  21. Crystal L says:

hows the size 2 collection of pants?

  22. Irena says:

I care Chantelle. That’s who cares about the changing room situation. I guess some people don’t have morals anymore.

  23. Tara says:

Morals? Have you been to many warehouse sales? I’ve been to tons of these through Montreal and Toronto for the last 15 years and this is how the changing rooms are set up every time. It’s the same situation when you go to the gym and change in the locker room. As long as the rooms aren’t mixing men and women, where’s the morality issue?

  24. Mari says:

I tried to go, but when I got to the gates of the parking lot there were 3000 people ahead of me waiting outside. Give me a break. Not worth it to stand outside 3-4 hours with my 8 month old to save $50. Maybe next time.

  25. Happy says:

I notice that many people comment on the friendly staff. I would agree, but am not surprised. Lululemon has always had positive, energetic, happy people working for them – and I think this only helps promote the product. I went Saturday am at 11:30 and was in within 10 minutes. I managed to find many items I liked, and ended up saving what I feel was a great deal of money for a quality product. I feel that those who complain in these posts should really consider what Lululemon as a company believes in – A positive state of mind. If you are a person that sees the negative aspect to anything – don’t go. I understand that I didn’t have to wait in line like many, but I had read these posts prior to going, and being positive decided to make the best of it – I dressed warmly, and brought and coffee and a book, prepared to wait. Those of you who could do the same – go – it’s worth it.

  26. Chantelle says:

Well Irena it has absolutely nothing to do with morals what so ever its true yes some plp are shy about there body’s but come on everyone there was way way to busy to be judging or even to give you the time of day and say hey look at her.. so really what do you where to the beach shorts and a shirt? probably not.. so they are only gonna see what you show at the beach thats why we wear bras and panties…… So maybe next time you shouldn’t go its too bad that you gave up and missed out on a great sale better luck next time..

  27. J says:

Hey chantelle what size hoodie, was there lots or was it luck? i really wanted a hoodie but didn’t find any =( guess i’ll have to get on from the store. Did anyone go sunday? how was the line up in this weather? eek! and i thought thursday was chilly!

  28. Dale says:

Male – Went Saturday AM. Arrive 8:45 AM. A B-plus grade. Lineup was large at about -3C temperature, was in just before 10. I found this as a treasure hunt. There were some real good deals in the men’s, but it took brains and sharp eyes to find them. For men’s sizes, bizarre distribution of the styles. Smaller sizes – tons of silverescent tops and outdoor pants. Larger sizes – lots of luon jackets, crops and Dash tights. Found a white vintage Board Short. Never saw hoodies though – I am sure as soon as the rack arrived, it would have been a hoedown. Disappointed in the markdown on the Chief short – also not many of them until the XL. Everything else was marked down from 30 to 50%. The bamboo Sunday Run long sleeve top – a current model – lots of these and they got marked down to $39 to $19 on Saturday.

  29. New to Lulu says:

Went Saturday at 1:30pm, no line up and not very busy inside. No line up at the cash till and line up was short for the change area. Had a lot of fun, would do it again. My only recommendation for an improvment would be the music. It was blaring out of bad speakers and I know it had a negative effect on the staff’s mood (thankfully I was only there for one hour, while the poor staff were probably there for 8+ hours). Got some good pieces.

  30. Heather says:

I tried to go at 5pm on Thursday… the line up was 3 hours long and it was cold! I tried again at 5pm on Friday and only waited about 20 mins to get in (I was surprised!) I didn’t expect them to take my coat and purse but whatever. They told me to keep my wallet.

There was a ton of stuff for size 2 & 4 but I was looking for 8’s, 10’s & 12’s. The selection wasn’t too great… it was obvious why some of the stuff didn’t sell in stores! I was disappointed to find few pairs of pants, no hoodies, no nice bags (only metallic purses!) and no jackets! However, there were lots of sports bras, tanks, shorts, skirts and flimsy dresses.

The change room was madness. I just pretended I was at the gym and averted my eyes to everyone else!

The biggest discounts were on the crappiest items, sorry to say. They had some Still Pants for $5 off! That’s not a super warehouse discount!

I ended up with two tanks for $29 each and a part of shorts for $19… I probably saved $50 or so. I don’t think I’d go again but I don’t regret going to this one :)It was fun to look around.

  31. Heather says:

Also, just before I went to the sale on Friday, I went to the Lulu store in Market Mall and it was so busy! However, I got a sweater that was normally $94 for only $72! I was happy.

  32. J says:

Wow I wish I had known that the stores were having sales as well! would’ve gone there and gotten the hoodies, thats the whole reason I wanted to go to the warehouse sale to begin with!

  33. monica says:

it wasnt that great.what a wste of time..there were no purses at all.

whens the next sale in 2009?

  35. Boberta says:

Any news on a 2009 sale??

  36. cheapcanuck says:

The 2009 sale was in Niagara Falls in January. It was posted on this blog awhile back.

Yes it’s a Canadian company but its products are now made in China. Is the quality what it used to be? Are they employing as many Canadians? Clearly the savings from outsourcing haven’t been passed onto the consumer.
